Not even sure it’s worth recruiting HS QBs anymore.
I think you still do just to have depth, in case of injury. Granted, it sucks because you'll likely never see them start, but you need at least 3 scholarship QBs to get through a season, and I can't imagine a lot of transfers coming in to be a 3rd string. Luckily, the Ducks have had pretty decent luck with QB health lately, but without 3 QBs, you're risking a scenario where you have walk-ons starting games with just 2 freak injuries (though I guess you could argue it only took 1 injury this year. hah). I might also still be scarred from the 2007 and 2008 seasons.
I'm going to assume that Raiola is sitting out the whole year cause I doubt he's gonna want to burn a year as a backup. This now leaves Brock Thomas and Akili Smith Jr as backup options for blowouts or in case of injury. There's also no guarantee that Raiola doesn't just transfer next year too. Not saying Beaver is the solution for 2026 but for crying out loud, come for a year and see how it plays out before you put your name in the portal. I have to assume we paid him a decent amount of money to come here for a year.

Keep in mind that Raiola is coming off a broken fibula so recovering, learning and sitting will be fine since he knows that were something to happen to Dante, he's the guy now at Oregon. So while I don't think he may play in those early season OOC games like PSU, his Redshirt status won't matter if we're talking Playoff contention and an injury happens.

I hope we don't have to find out.

I think for like your top 5 HS QBs, the expectation is either start for lesser school or sit out one year for a bigger school.

Mid-Lower 4 star HS QBs, honestly it could be 2-3 years before they see the field. And even then, no guarantee.

Tricky situation. At a position group where the whole matters alot more than one individual, do you splurge and bring in a star OL who might rock the boat a little or keep a few OLs, who are not as good but have a few years of camaraderie practicing and playing together.

I just noticed that the 2027 CFP championship game is in Las Vegas! :o

Seems like providence that Oregon will have so many returning starters after getting one win away from the big game... that Dante is coming back... that our receiving room is stacked... that our defense is going to be lights-out... imagine a path where we can make a title run with only one trip east, and then pack Allegiant Stadium for the natty?

Here's hoping that Uncle Phil digs deep and takes full advantage of this opportunity!

There is a way where it is Rose Bowl -> Fiesta Bowl -> Championship

There are rumors that they might get both Gray and Green.
