Blazers are projected to be the third worst team in the West next season. There's been multiple questionable roster building moves the past few seasons. Bringing Dame back is another strange fit. At least his contract makes it a low risk/high reward potential. Ultimately the Blazers need some 2026 lottery luck and a good ownership group for this team to start ascending in the West.

I'm liking the seeming commitment to Portland. I'm not loving (as a taxpayer) the impending fight over financing a new arena (we can support an unnecessary arena for the benefit of the wealthy but can't afford police and parks? Ok....).

I'm also very fascinated by the ownership team. Tom Dundon is poor by billionaire standards, and much of his wealth is tied up in the Carolina Hurricanes. I'd really like to know how they're structuring this deal, financially speaking.

The Blazers as an organization seem like the ideal distressed property that a smart investor can turn around to great advantage. Tom Dundon seems like exactly the kind of owner who recognizes that opportunity and has the chops to clean things up. I don't know what happens when a guy who hates bad contracts meets a GM who doesn't know how to originate anything else, but I suspect Cronin will be gone as soon as Dundon gets his bearings. It sounds like it takes awhile for the transfer of ownership to occur so Dundon might arrive just in time to make decisions on Sharpe and Scoot's future contracts. We can look forward to having a real owner again, and a more active owner than maybe we have ever had. I have been saying ad nauseum that the way for the Blazers to return to winning ways is to run a tighter ship in terms of cap management. Looks like we are about to find out if I am right.

Looks like he is already looking at local investors to add to the books. Tim Boyle might be one of the people to assist, per reports. Pun fully intended. But that would also most likely add to the strength of keeping the team in Portland, which has already been stated.

I don't say this often, but you're exactly right, especially with the new CBA and the paradigm shift from super teams to roster construction. I'm excited to see what Dundon puts together & who he eventually hires as our GM going forward.

I find it really interesting that they've announced the purchase and don't even know what the ownership group consists of. I mean, it happens, investors announce deals months in advance while funding is still coming together, but it's interesting to me nonetheless. I guess I just haven't seen it as much in sports.

I don't think the NBA or the Blazers have officially announced anything yet. There could be dozens of minority investors when this becomes official.

I forget what the cap on what the max number of owners is, but I think it's around twenty.
