BRIAN Jackson committed - 99% sure per scout

If it's true that he wasn't completely healthy it would explain a few things to me. Like I said I've seen him play and he's got a great nose for the ball, but there was just something about him that really didn't do it for me.

Hoover's a great program, and has nothing but the best when it comes to facilities, equipment, etc (sound familiar?). In addition they're a successful program and it's always good to bring in kids from programs where winning is expected. If he excelled with the Buccs I can tell you that he's definitely willng to work his ass off, which is a plus.

It's not just the stars. I look at height, speed, other offers, who else we were offering at that position, etc. I'm sure he will do well, I just prefered Crim. I don't think any of us would have been that upset had Jackson gone elsewhere. I still think he was a "fallback" choice.

Don't get me wrong. I would rather have had Telemaque last year than Jackson this year as I feel Telemaque is going to be a legit starting S in the NFL, but I have no doubt that Jackson has a chance to thrive in Oregon's system. I just don't think he touches Telemaque and I was really disappointed last year when we pulled Telemaque's offer simply because of scholly limits.

But I really will be cheering Jackson on and I think Neal, Greatwood, and Kelly have proven to be excellent eyes for talent. So, I'm not exactly pissed off. Just disappointed in the decision making that went on last year with Telemaque.

Scout has Cliff Harris running a 4.6 40 with a 7.8 3 cone time
Scout has Jackson running a 4.72 40 with a 7.14 3 cone time
Scout has Adam Hall running a 4.75 (and a 4.5) 40 with a 7.41 3 cone time
Kid is a pretty good athlete

It's really hard to imagine the top cover guy at the Army game having a 7.8 cone time. REALLY hard to imagine. But the 7.14 from Jackson is pretty good. Scout also has his shuttle time at 4.06 which is not elite, but is still VERY good.

i really haven't bothered to look to see if it's been posted already but Jackson's Scout time is wrong by .2. I guess it was on a slow track and the players were offered to take .2 off their times and I guess Jackson said no. Some poster on Scout brought it to our attention. So he's closer to 4.5 than 4.7.

Just got the email from scout that he commited. Now how about some commits on the offensive side?

Yeah hines, same poster said at the Miss. St camp he ran a 4.49 but scout only post times from their camp in Atl.

Like I said before, I don't buy the 4.7 time... hell I can run that right now. His cone time is well above average and he has the attitude that I want on our defense. He likes to hit and I think we need more of that TJ Ward attitude. Screw the star rating (3* is pretty good still), I LIKE THIS RECRUIT! Welcome aboard BJ!

I don't quite get your fascination with Crim. Sure Crim is a 4*, but JC rankings tend to always be a bit on the high side. Furthermore, you mention BJ's like of big time offers, but it's not as if Crim has a bunch of top 25 teams beating down his door.

Crim first came in the picture because he's a teammate of Zac Clark. Clark was the priority player and I'm told Crim was invited when they saw his film. The staff was not working OT to get RC. Sure he would help, but we still have very good DB depth and it's always better to build via the HS ranks. It may also be possible that Crim is in the same boat as several other JCs right now - they may not get into Oregon.

Regardless, 40 time is not all that important if a guy plays with good technique. Looks like a solid nose for the ball, could end up a big pickup for us.

Crim was like the top JC CB. He likely could have come in and played right away. Jackson will likely take more time. If other people can say they like Jackson, I don't see what's wrong with saying I liked Crim. How could he get into Arkansas but not Oregon? All of this comes down to the fact that for some reason, Leon might not be a duck. He was my favorite commit, and to hear it might not happen is frustrating.

^agreed. I am scared about losing Leon, and likewise he was the commit i was looking forward to most. While i think Crim is better than Jackson, i still very much like Jackson. And i am calling it early...Jackson will be a GREAT player for us.

Hoover is a bigtime HS program, with great coaching, he will come in with good technique I would bet. Plus, a bonus is this kid wanted to be a Duck in the worst way and is another national recruit for us with bigtime name recognition to have a kid from Hoover on your roster when recruiting in Alabama next year.

FWIW, we offered him quite some time ago. He is not a fall back for Leon or Harris. Go smoke a bowl, drink a scotch, meditate, whatever calms some of you paranoid people out.
