Re: Oregon Football - 2026 Transfer Portal
Maybe a dumb question.
I see the UO started classes yesterday for Winter 2026.
It lists the last day to add a class this quarter is January 12th. If a guy is going to portal in, if he doesn't do it in the next 6 days, will he have any classes? Should we be on a 6 day countdown for any portal additions, or is there a work around?
Sit out Winter quarter and pick up Spring 2026 without penalty? That would seem a bit odd as I imagine they would need to be in school to use AD facilities, participate in team activities like weight training, and receive benefits like meals, housing, medical care, etc.

Is Limar gone immediately or staying til end of season?
I kinda understand his thinking and definitely get how the timing of the portal works out…but how many coaches want a running back that skips town right before they could play a crucial role winning a championship?

I imagine the school that makes that offer wants them gone so they don't get hurt, which might explain why Jay Harris is not listed "Out" because he didn't get any offers that are forcing him to leave to be a part of his new school.chapelhillduck wrote: Tue Jan 06, 2026 6:31 pm Is Limar gone immediately or staying til end of season?

I looked at the roster searching for players to fill in at RB. There is nobody to replace Davison. Sadiq could run but if he is injured, then what?

Apparently Jay Harris is still with the team after being linked to the portal and will likely get his carries. He probably will do himself some good getting some of Davison's carries since he had pretty minimal film this season.rockthief wrote: Tue Jan 06, 2026 6:50 pm I looked at the roster searching for players to fill in at RB. Oh man, we are all laughing at UW. Williams, right after saying he was staying, now hits the portal. Sounding like LSU could be the landing spot.

Funny thing is Sam Leavitt was sitting courtside with Lane Kiffin tonight. He's now scheduled a visit to Tennessee as well. Feels like he's visiting all these other schools while waiting to see to what Dante Moore does.buckmarkduck wrote: Tue Jan 06, 2026 8:31 pm Oh man, we are all laughing at UW. Seems like it's worse than saying. He apparently signed the deal already to stay at Washington and now wants out.buckmarkduck wrote: Tue Jan 06, 2026 8:31 pm Oh man, we are all laughing at UW. It was already announced, but paperwork for Jay Harris is now in, so he's officially in the portal.
I'm really surprised by how quiet the Oregon portal is. I would normally say it's alright, we can flip guys before it closes, but the Demond Williams situation demonstrates that schools aren't playing around with these contracts once they're signed.

It makes sense though. We have two new coordinators going into next year and we're focused on playoffs. I'm sure it'll pick up after Friday.StevensTechU wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 10:31 am It was already announced, but paperwork for Jay Harris is now in, so he's officially in the portal.

That still doesn't compute for me. This is Marshall Malchow's job, so unless he's going somewhere else, we should still see the machine operating close to as-usual.UOducksTK1 wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 10:38 amIt makes sense though. Michigan has 0 commits and Ohio State has 1 commit. Oregon has 3.StevensTechU wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 11:12 amThat still doesn't compute for me. When portal opened last year, it took us 10 days to land our first guy. I know the window was different than it is now, but I think Oregon will be selective as usual and be patient. I also feel like our needs this year are a little less than last year.
Fun fact, last year after the Rose Bowl, I met Marshall's father-in-law at the Beverly Hills Hotel at the restaurant on top. We chatted Ducks and Marshall's role for like 15 minutes. Cool guy. Him and his family all heavily rooted in Georgia.
