If Anderson pitched like he had in April, few of those runs would have scored. I think he's struggled the last few weeks. OS was hardly his fault with the crappy way that game ended, but he hasn't been as strong. I thought he'd come out on fire today, but we didn't help with the errors and misjudged fly ball in LF . . . that would have been the 3rd out and would have saved the two runs that scored that inning. Oh well!! The guys didn't fold and made a game of it.

We made a game of it, although it seems that lately the ducks haven't been scoring much early on in games. It's going to be a really tough task to advance now. I believe we have to beat UCONN and then beat Florida State twice.

How many of the runs today for FSU were earned? I strongly disagree that "had he pitched like he did earlier this year" things might have been different. He pitched very well today. Defense betrayed him a bit, and he's always been susceptible to the HR. Florida State by far scored more runs this year than anyone we've played, let alone Anderson pitched against. Fresno State is the next closest, and they get to beat up on WAC pitching.

I know someone is itching to point out the 1-0 loss to Arizona State, but if we're honest with ourselves, we'll realize that that was ASU's first game of the season in a northern state, and the weather pretty clearly affected them. Same thing happened when they went up to Wazzu.

Anderson was NOT the problem today. He pitched a very typical game for him, the difference being that the opposition was much, much better than anything we've thusfar season this year.
