Random thought, but if Uncle Phil doesn't get his way re: getting into the B1G, I wonder if we'll suddenly see an uptick in 5* recruits suddenly finding their way to Oregon.

Sorry not following the logic here. If Oregon ends up in what is 'perceived' a lesser conference with potentially less national exposure than the BIG or the SEC what would motivate a 5* recruit. Is the implication that NIL would drive them to Oregon? Just wondering.

I've actually been wondering in what ways Phil and Nike could be petty/spiteful in regards to LA bolting the Pac. Obviously getting in an NIL bidding war is one way to bring recruits on but I tend to think they have other ways than what Canzano alludes to.

Conference money is school money and cant be used for NIL. Booster NIL money goes directly to players. A good recruiting staff backed by generous boosters will create the next recruiting monsters. For the schools athletic budget its all about conference money but for talent acquisition NIL beats the crap out of facilities as a recruiting weapon.

I haven't seen anything explaining where this giant conference money windfall goes. I feel reasonably certain that it won't go to tuition breaks for ordinary students or reduced ticket prices. Insane salary increases for AD bureaucrats are just about assured.

Given the position (QB), the kid's 5 star rating, the difficulty of a transition to a new coaching staff, and the recent PR hit Oregon has taken over USC/UCLA leaving the conference, wouldn't this rate as the best verbal in school history? Of course, we don't know how it will work out, but just from the viewpoint of the day of the verbal, I can't think of a bigger one. The ones that come to mind are Cameron Colvin and Haloti Ngata, but even those weren't timed like this one was.

It would be awesome if Phil went burnt earth on the Pac and college football, and bought a couple of tops recruiting classes. Good luck leaving out a defending (2023) National Champion.

Moore is a great start as I like the way he stands in the pocket and cycles before throwing a good ball.

Richard Young is the next guy we've got to have to return that electricity we're used to seeing in the backfield and the pair of them now seems very possible.

Great get. This has been such an entertaining week, watching the Big 10 and the L.A. schools do a number on the Pac 12, but also on Oregon specifically, topped off by the rejection of Oregon's application to join them. Now, it's Oregon's innings, and what a great blow the Ducks are striking, getting a coveted quarterback from right in the heart of Big 10 territory. Suddenly everyone is reminded that Oregon is the team that went into the Shoe and smacked Ohio State, a feat which none of the vaunted Big 10 teams have been able to do since 2015. We can talk about money and t.v. deals and population centers, blah blah blah, but if Oregon can keep recruiting and winning, this will all get sorted out. Don't forget what Clemson was able to accomplish from a very weak conference.

Getting a high profile QB was so huge for Lanning and his staff. He got the stud O-lineman and the stud receivers, and now the QB to throw to them, and maybe even a stud running back? It's almost like the new guy knows what he is doing and is methodically building something amazing piece by piece.

He mentions Oregon's facilities being a factor in his decision. Before he put on the hat during his announcement he mentioned the importance of facilities for injury recovery. I knew then that it was probably going to be us!

I don’t think Manning has been going to camps. Which has been a big mark against him.
