I don't necessarily think we have to win this series, but obviously we'd really set ourselves up for a nice finish if we could. I actually don't think we'll win this, but I also thought the same thing about the Arizona series, and we very nearly swept them.
We have to win at least one.

Keep thinking that way and maybe it will turn out like the Arizona series. The team may need your pessimism to win a series.

My pessimism can supercede the longest of odds.
1-0 Ducks in the 2nd. Pulfer walked, Thomas sacrificed him to 2nd, Sabol singles him to 3rd, Jones with a sac fly. Efficient first inning for the Ducks.

well, that lead was short lived. solo HR for Cal.

ugh, first two runners get on in the 4th, then a strike out/DP ends our 'threat'
anyone listening to this? i'm only following on gamecast. why did hambright strike out? did he fail to put down a bunt, then was forced to swing? or did horton let him take a stab at it?

1-1, top 6
two dynamite aces are predictably doing really well. although our offense is terrible, and cal's is really good, so extra props to Tyler Anderson.

1-1, 2 outs in the 8th
McGough comes in for Anderson with a runner at first, strikes him out. Way to be, McGoo

Well, we lost.
Not officially, mind you, but we failed to score in the 9th, and the best we can hope for is extra innings. And we don't win in extra innings. Ever.

Another frustrating loss. Between our hitting woes and bullpen issues . . . we are truly wasting our amazing (most of the time) starter pitchers. The innings where we get two guys on with no outs and can't for the life of us get one of them in just kills me! One run on four measly hits isn't going to give our bullpen enough of a cushion after Tyler does his job.
