I was gone for the game last year. Do they have all there starters back? how did they beat us? should i be nervous for this game or will we put up 40 points on them?

I hate to say the reason they beat us last year was our problems at QB, but if we had a healthy QB the whole game last year we should have won.
They lose running back Ian Johnson, WR- Vinny Perretta and Jeremy Childs
There bringing back a good QB in Kellen Moore.
I think it will be one of those games if we come out hot they wont stop us but if we let up early and give them a chance to take a lead it could be a long night in Boise.

The fact that the game is in Boise makes the game tough based on that alone. I'm definitely nervous about the game.

Powers is gone, but Jeron Johnson has one more year. I say we get some payback.

I was actually at the game last year, my first game in 4 years even though I have 4 season tickets. I thought that we just kind of lost steam when Masoli got that late hit. The whole team kind of just sighed and mailed it in for the next 2 quarters. And then a magical freshman came in to play QB and almost lead the Ducks to a win. I think the team that played that day was light years away from the team that played in the Holiday Bowl. Now what team will show up in Boise? If I knew that I'd be in Vegas making a bet, but my gut feeling is that we get some payback! Go DUCKS!

I was there.
My impression was that the biggest factor in us losing that game was that we lost Masoli to injury and thus the ability to pass the ball effectively. Harper was running the offense for most of the game going with almost all runs. The few times he passed, I believe two of them were interceptions. The only reason it ended up being close was that, late in the game, Harper was replaced with Thomas who, by being able to pass effectively, started scoring rapidly. Another 5 minutes of him in the game and we probably would have won that one.
The second factor though is that they do have a solid QB who ran a surprise offensive scheme that our defense wasn't prepared for. They should be given credit for QB play and good coaching. I'm pretty sure that they will come out with something unexpected for us again.
As long as we have a healthy passer available and a better prepared defense, I think we win this game by a healthy margin.

Their QB really picked us apart. Especially considering he was a redshirt freshman making his first road start. I hope Nick brings his A game to the smurf turf. I am excited to see how spring practice goes. Hopefully that will alleviate some of the anxiety that has been building.

Call me delusional, but, IMO, if the D comes out with something to prove, and plays as if their hair is on fire, a good performance against BSU may well set a good tone for the rest of the season.
It would be a pleasant surprise to see these guys on their toes for a change, instead of stumbling back on their heals like a sucker punched prize fighter who was out on his feet before he entered the ring...

Injured QB or not, Boise St. was going to win that game no matter what. Kellen Moore was on fire when he played us. We couldn't stop anything, until they became conservative. While Masoli would have made the game more interesting, Boise St. won that game because they were the better team that day. They dominated the line of scrimmage, made special teams plays and converted on 3rd down at will.
Going into Boise this year isn't going to be an easy task. Once again this will be Boise's biggest game of the year, they will be the underdog, and they will have nothing to loose.

I think Masoli's progress in the passing game combined with Blount and James running attack and some new talented WR's and Tight Ends as well as revenge for the loss and cheap shot by the Boise St. defender gives the Ducks the edge. I have been to a couple of games in Boise and the fans are no where near as loud as fans in Autzen. Also, Boise and Moore may let the success of last year go to their heads and they might come in over confident, it happened before with the previous QB and team after their success the year before so it could happen again. If our offense is clicking we will easily outscore them. However the one thing I am worried about is the play action which killed the Ducks last year, hopefully Alliotti does something different since they don't have Ian Johnson or a reliable run game. Boise State is a good team, but not great and under different circumstances last year the Ducks would have easily handled them. If the Ducks are healthy they win by a good margin.
GO DUCKS!!!!!

Not to be argumentative, but one last full possession and that game WOULD have been ours. Or, for that matter, had DT been in place, instead of Harper and the "All Run, One Dimensional" offense, the game would have been ours...
We werent known for our stifling defense last year, we just OUTSCORED our opponents.....And would have done so against BSU last year.....It was early in the season and lets just say we didnt put our best foot forward on that day....
I am looking forward to ending BSU's hopes of an undefeated season, from the get go of their schedule...

My major concerns at the smurf turf are the new faces on the O-line (Unger has huge shoes to fill) and our D meshing. It's not going to be easy and the problem is, we have to win this game. It sets the tone for our whole season unfortunately. I think it was a huge mistake to put this game first on our schedule.

I think that Boise St has only lost 2 home games since 1999. Granted a lot of those teams they played weren't very good, but that's still an incredible stat. Who knows what will happen, but anyone expecting a cake walk for Oregon in that game is kidding themselves.

Or, possibly a great way to start off the season...A quality road win....
Everyone was saying the same thing about the Michigan games...And we all know how they turned out..
The one aspect that everyone seems to overlook, is this:
Its Boise States 1st game of the season also.....
We dont need to defend Ian Johnson this year....Plus. we ARE NOT the Duck team that we were early in the season last year..
Yes, the new O line is a concern to me, but with the spread offense, its not like we are typically hangin around in the pocket for too long anyway... Am I optimistic....Hell yes...But then again, what can I say..I am a glass 3/4 full kinda guy.....lol
GOOOOOOO DUCKS......
