I don't know when or even if he will be a coach here but it would make sense. The opening is at QB coach & QBs are his place of expertice, he expressed interest in learning our offense & it would be an attention getting hire. Having a coach who has led an NFL team to a super bowl would be a huge plus in recruiting too.

I really hope that gruden becomes the head coach. I used to love warren sapp growing up because when I was younger I played DT in middle school. So I became a tampa fan in a way (Still a die hard hawk fan though). So I've always looked up to Gruden. I remember reading an SI article way way way back about how much work he puts in too.. With the stuff we hear about CK putting in extended hours, maybe those two will end up feeding off each others desire to learn more about the game and Gruden will become a great addition to the squad. Also, if your a recruit from the state of Florida, you will know Grudens name. (pretty much any recruit that knows football should know his name) All in all, I would be super excited if Gruden was named part of the ducks staff, I just don't know if I see a NFL head coach taking a position coach position. Mops, is there any validity to Gruden possibly being named an assistant coach for Oregon?

Yea like mdm said you dont really believe he is going to be an assistant coach here? It sounds like its going to be the TE coach from the Chiefs he was a WR coach at Colorado and UCLA and is a really good recruiter. His name just escapes me at this point.

While I am skeptical of the Gruden rumors as well, does the Chiefs coach really qualify as a "BIGTIME" hire like others are claiming it to be? And also, TOS is claiming the new coach should be able to help us when the time comes to play Tenn. Of course this spread more rumors about the possibility of Gruden (Monte Kiffin connection) but does anyone know if perhaps the Chiefs coach has any ties to that rumor?

Who said that this next coach was going to be some "BIGTIME" hire?

I don't see why there would be no chance Gruden takes the position.
Is he being hired by an NFL team? Any NCAA HC offers?
Unemployment doesn't pay very well.

So with it being Monday, the day before spring practice starts, do we see a coaching hire today? I would think they would bring in a guy or at least name one before practices start. Especially considering how many times Kelly has said he wants to bring in a guy before spring.

Mostly, he needs relevance at this point. Whether as a talking suit on ESPN or somthing else. Just sitting around won't help his cause. Though I have zero sources on the issue, I can say that a job at Oregon has more relevance than no job.
