Much better formatting, and bolding makes it easier to follow on the eyes. Well done, I'll read it tomorrow.

well done article
what type of recruiting class is coming in? Any potential freshman factoring early in the lineup?

Biggest position I'm worried about next year is catcher since as much potential as Chase has, he only played one game there and he didn't exactly look like that great of a hitter for most of the season.

agreed. like i said in the blog, nobody really appreciates a great defensive catcher until they don't have one. hambright wasn't god's gift to hitting, but he was an exceptional defensive catcher. i noticed him routinely giving it his all to avoid a passed ball in situations where there was nobody on base; that's just flat out taking pride in what you do.

I read somewhere that Aaron Jones might play the position. Thoughts on that?

if he comes back, he'll be our starting catcher. he started several games there this year before injuring his ankle against ucla. i just don't think jones is coming back.

Perhaps a 3rd article on the incoming recruits?!? I'm already starving for more baseball. What an awesome year. I just wish we were still playing.

But until the signing period is over for those who were drafted, I'd probably hold off on that since I suspect Oregon will lose at least a couple more.

i've always had a difficult time getting a handle on baseball recruiting. you can gauge the individual talent and competition level better in football and basketball. every incoming baseball recruit seems to have a .400+ BA and crazy power numbers, or an unblemished pitching record with a microscopic ERA... but kids just develop differently in this game. my two favorites recruits of our 2010 class failed to pan out and are no longer in the program; i don't remember thinking anything special of guys like ryon healy and aaron jones. i know that can (and does) happen in every sport, but baseball just seems like a crap shoot. really, i don't have a ton of insight on what to expect from incoming freshmen until those first few articles of the spring when practice is underway and horton starts talking about how kids are progressing. outside of obvious tier-1 recruits like carson kelly, i couldn't say if any of the new kids will be able to provide a boost to the offense because they all look like they could... but so did all of our current players coming off outstanding high school numbers.

Great articles oregontrack. I'm still a noob when it comes to college baseball, but you're articles have definitely helped me learn more about the team.
