Brown Update
http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindducksb ... rt_of.html
I couldn't resist getting a take from Chip Kelly and from LeGarrette Blount on a comment made last month by Bryce Brown, the nation's top recruit who chose Tennessee over Kansas State and Oregon. In case you missed it:
"I just didn't think (Oregon) would prepare me enough for the NFL,'' Brown told Wichita Sports Radio 1410 KGSO. "I'm thinking long term, I'm thinking next level already.''
Now, a case could be made that Oregon's offense doesn't prepare quarterbacks or receivers enough for the NFL, but running backs?
"I would put Oregon's track record of developing runners against anybody in the country,'' said Kelly, who cited Jonathan Stewart, Onterrio Smith, etc.
Whether Brown heard that knock from the Tennessee staff, we'll never know, but Kelly said he can't help what recruits hear from others looking to sway the kid one way or the other.
"We don't negative recruit,'' Kelly said, "and if other people do, then more power to them.''
Blount, who returned to practice Monday after an ankle injury and returned to Oregon this season after considering an early entry to the NFL, said he was surprised by the comment, too.
"If he hasn't established himself in college yet, why even talk about the NFL?'' said Blount, who said you also have to judge talent against the level of competition. "If you compare Kansas high school football to Florida high school football, Texas high school football, California high school football ... I mean that's where the competition is.''
And besides, Blount said, the Ducks already have all the weapons Brown possesses - even they are spread among himself, LaMichael James, Andre Crenshaw and Remene Alston.
"We're all good backs,'' he said. "We all bring something different to the game. The only thing he'll bring is speed.''

Re: Brown Update
If the defense steps up on third and long under the new organization, the Ducks could well end up with more than 2/1000 yard rushers.
What is the NCAA record for 1000 yarders on a single team in a season, anyway?

Re: Brown Update
Actually, Oregon needs to get 2 RBs each 1000 yards, plus the QB, in addition to 3000 yards passing, just to drive home the point that there is no better offensive team around.
Just sayin'...

For most teams, good luck. For Oregon, the possibility is very real.woundedknees wrote:Actually, Oregon needs to get 2 RBs each 1000 yards, plus the QB, in addition to 3000 yards passing, just to drive home the point that there is no better offensive team around.

Honestly, I really couldn't care less about what Bryce Brown will say from this point forward until he finally admits that he made a wrong decision by following his wrong head to a school that will not come close to prepping him for the pro's.
Let it die, he made his bed now let him lie in it.

Re: Brown Update
The Ducks will do just fine without Mr. Might-Have-Been, whoever/wherever he may have landed.
I am way too pumped about what CK will do with the guys on hand to worry about BB, Miles Wade, Terrel Pryor, Tajh Boyd, or any of the rest of the guys who weren't sold on being a Duck.

Re: Brown Update
Let's let the issue die until the kid actually cracks the two deep at Tennessee.
