Interesting roster developments...

As reported by Rob Moseley...

Tight end Mychal Rivera has been released from his scholarship after the coaches asked him to move to the offensive line (the coaches are obviously scrambling to cover for the lack of offensive line depth). Maybe he was the other player Mops was referring to that would be leaving the program?
Remene Alston is out for the rest of the spring with a foot injury and Blount aggravated his pre-spring foot injury as well.
Chris Harper has begun doing a few drills at running back, after not making any sort of an impact at wide receiver during the scrimmage.

Rivera doesn't sound like a "team player", so good riddence to him. I just hope all of our running backs are healthy come the Boise St game.

Very good moves by all. Tight End depth is insane, so he never would have seen any pt, so it was either switch to O-line or transfer.
I think the move to RB could be very good for harp. He is so multi-talented that he could easily fit into a D-Mac, Percy Harvin type hybrid player.

This is a little misleading.... Moseley never quoted that and says that he spent most of his time at WR today. He made little impact during the scrimmage, but had multiple plays called for him, Harper will stay in the slot unless injuries put us in dire straits.

Yeah, Rivera was never a great fit for this offense. He doesn't have the sort of speed and athleticism the coaches are looking for from that position. He is much better suited for a more traditional style offense in a lower level conference than the Pac-10.

I'm not sure what you are talking about, but there isn't anything misleading about it. I simply pointed out two irrefutable facts:
1. Chris Harper participated in some running back drills.
2. If you watched the scrimmage, Chris Harper made no impact whatsoever at wide receiver during the scrimmage.
Whether or not there is any sort of correlation between those two facts is not something I can comment on. I wasn't directly quoting Moseley in any of my comments, so I don't know what relevance that has to anything.

Scouts practice report quotes Kelly as saying they intended to play Harper at the RB position some anyway, the injuries and this not being a game day situation is why Harper took some snaps at RB today. This has nothing to do with Harper not making plays at WR, this was just the right situation to get Harper some cross training at both positions without taking away reps from Alston, Crenshaw, and Blount. You can read the practice report for free.

We will see Harper all over the field next year. ESPECIALLY at RB if we were to see injuries to any of the running backs on the roster, especially James or Blount.
Also with regards to Rivera asked to move to OL, wonder if we are developing any sort of offshoot of the A-11 offense which really doesn't utilize any real lineman except maybe a center. I know we can't use exactly an A-11 but makes me think a little with CK being so innovative.
But also could be just what it looks like too many frickin studs at one position, and Curtis White already on board for next year. JEEZ, good problem to have.

One less Hispanic Duck.
Didn't Rivera's dad post on here a couple of times? At least on the old forum?
