FYI some guy on Monday's College Football Live predicts the Ducks will win less than 8 games this coming season. Boy that guy will look like a real douche when the Ducks win 10+ again this season!

That is a little surprising to me. Usually these pundits are pretty influenced by the skill position players back. And with Masoli and Blount back, and a favorable home schedule, you'd think most would be pretty positive. Those in-the-know may see the lines as question marks and the loss of JJ, JW, and Chung as reasons. I can understand how that could be predicted.........but I don't agree with it. Would love to see 10 wins again.

their main concern was saying only 5 returning starters on each side of the ball

8 wins is probably about right. With a new head coach, who has no experiance as a head coach, and concerns about line play on both sides, 10+ wins is a little unrealistic. While Oregon returns a top flight QB & RB, games are won and lost by line play.

It was kind of funny when he was talking about all the lost starters when they were showing clips of Masoli and Blount. Also the other commentator disagreed and went over 8 wins.

I dont see 8 wins as being realistic i think be 9 or 10 but consider couple things. We still have to play Cal who we have struggled against lately. We have to play an up and coming Stanford team down there and yes we still have USC Utah and Boise State not to mention ASU down there. I could see it happening given our inexperience in the O Line. I think though Masoli and Blount if keep developing will be a problematic duo for defenses not to mention LaMichael James.

Put me down for 8 wins. That sounds about right to me with big gaps in both lines and a difficult OOC schedule.

It's too early to tell, but the question we have to ask ourselves is: Are we a better football team than last year? To be honest, Oregon lost a ton of talent last year. I'm sure a lot of the new guys will step in and do well, but you just don't replace a lot of the guys we lost unless you are a USC or Florida. Add in the coaching changes, and 8 wins might very well be realistic. That doesn't mean we cannot and wont win more though.

I think every year can feel like we lost a lot of talent. You have to keep in mind that one of the reasons it feels that way is that seniors tend to play better and more often than the underclassmen. There are always kids behind the guys we lost that step up and become the next "talent we can't afford to lose."
It seems like there are more players with up-side potential for this season than I can remember the Ducks ever having.

I think Oregon will now always be a reloading team and not a rebuilding team. Although there are only 5 starters from each side, there is a lot of talent with some experience, so it's not like its a bunch of freshman and sophomores getting their first playing time. With the favorable home schedule I think the Ducks will be a 2-3 loss team again with losses to probably USC and Cal and possibly Stanford, Arizona, Utah or Boise State.

I think people are panicking a bit too much about the line. I know the reports have been that the O-line in particular is struggling, but it's still a ways away from the beginning of the season and they are being taught by the best O-line coach in the country. Plus there have been a lot of injuries on the line, so it hasn't even been at full strength. I think they will be fine, as they always seem to be by the time the season rolls around. Who knows...maybe even a true freshman might surprise everyone and have a big impact on the line when they get here in the summer. This is the perfect situation for something like that to happen. Far too early to tell.
