Colorado OC Mark Helfrich to interview next week

Post by jhopduck »

That's the rumor from the Colorado fans and it seems pretty solid. Sad part is the Colorado fans think very little of this guy. I wondered if he was a good recruiter or something and they said not really. Don't know, take it for what it's worth.

Hard to get excited about hiring an OC from a team with a pretty lousy offense.

I don't understand how he would be a good fit at Oregon. Couldn't we do better, I mean much better?

Helfrich was born in Oregon, played quarterback at Southern Oregon University and was an offensive graduate assistant for the Ducks in 1997. If he is indeed interviewing for the job, I would guess it is more a case of him seeking the opportunity to come home rather than Chip trying to lure him. There is obviously a big difference between interviewing for a job and actually being hired. Helfrich has had some success tutoring quarterbacks during his time at Arizona State, but beyond that he doesn't seem like a great fit, at least on the surface.

I've lived in Medford since 93 and I've never heard of this guy. Colorado guys hate him and wish we would take him. ??????????????????

Probably no chance of it happening for one reason or another. But, this guy would be an interesting choice: http://smartfootball.blogspot.com/2009/ ... mumme.html
