The noose in Tennessee just got tighter:

'Incident' and 'mistake' are hardly the words to describe what happened to the young lady in question... Hood must be one helluva football player.

WOW, That kid does not deserve a second chance, rape is not something you "move on" from. It also is not a mistake that a young person could make such as John Wall's incident or Cliff Harris' mistake. I wonder if the victim has "moved on"? She certainly will never have a "second chance" at NOT getting raped.

I was a little surprised to read that she had written a 'letter of support' for Hood...

"Tennessee received a letter of support for Hood from the victim."

"He is becoming a very mature adult and will be a great asset to any college and to society as a whole," the letter read.

"Hood told the Knoxville News Sentinel, which first reported the story, that he's tried to learn from the crime."

I watched a news special several years ago that focused on a youth correctional facility in California, for 13-18 year old murderers... Almost universally, they said something along the lines of, "I'm just a kid... You can't expect me to understand this is wrong!"

Strange that none of the young men in I used to hang out with ever had a problem understanding the ramifications of duct taping and tying a girl to... !

Oh... There I go preaching again! Me and my excessive moralistic standards!

You have to be wired a certain way to do that...

That's actually pretty false. I could give 2 bleeps about the kid but when you're 13 and you are involved in this stuff when a older kid is with you, you can get caught up in stuff you are afraid to run away from because of peer pressure, etc. My mom used to work in the Mult. Co. juvenile justice system and she read these type of files way too much and she always felt sorry for the younger kid because the older kid usually threatened the younger person by force, etc.

The girl writing the letter saying he should be given a 2nd chance is enough for me. The rest of us judging this kid is understandable but get over yourselves and your rightousness. You had no idea the kid existed until today or yesterday and to pretend that you "know him" now as an adult and not the 13 year old which was part of a pretty horrible act is just silly. Let it go.

Remember, this is SEC country. Win and it will all go away. Lay an egg and it will certainly be used as ammo to fire him.

Throw two more logs of "dead wood" onto the fire for Lane Kiffin. I'm sure that it's all for the better, according to UT fans.
In what has seemingly become an almost weekly occurrence, yet another player has decided to leave the Tennessee football program.

This time around, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel, wide receiver Tyler Maples is taking his leave of the Knoxville campus.

The receiver was granted his release by head coach Lane Kiffin and will transfer to an undetermined program.

Maples is the second player to transfer this week, joining fellow WR Ahmad Paige; overall, Maples is the 11th Volunteer to either transfer or be booted from the school since Kiffin took over last December.
http://www.collegefootballtalk.com/2009 ... -transfer/

Just imagine what it would be like if 11 Ducks had left or were booted off the team at this point in the off-season.

Haha. Look at the comments here: http://www.govolsxtra.com/news/2009/may ... artner=RSS

I'm trying not to be biased here. And Duck fans do write some outlandish things from time to time. But, I can't picture Duck fans writing such a quantity of delusional things on the Moseley blog, for example. Unbelievable. :D

"WOW, That kid does not deserve a second chance, rape is not something you "move on" from"

So what about murder? We didn't exactly so no to Rodney Woods, did we?
Maybe its more about money, and if it makes money you can move on from a lot of things.

And he doesn't say he's moved on or wants to move on...He specifically says this is something that stays with him and that he's always gonna have on him because she'll never be able to move on or have it not be with her...I think thats some pretty mature stuff...He doesn't say I didn't know it was wrong or I was just a kid and asking for a free pass...I actually think this is a good thing not a bad thing

This is actually a tough one because I don't know the kid. I hate to see anyone have a scarlet letter burned into their forehead forever and the victim herself seems to think the kid has turned his life around, so that means A LOT in my book. However, duct taping a girls mouth and eyes shut while raping her with toilet plunger is WAY-WAY OUT THERE.

This I know, if the kid stays clean, good for him. If not, coupled with a poor UT record, it actually may become the nail in Kiffin's coffin.

Remember Kiffin's motto: "there is no bad publicity" Right? Am I right? Is this thing even turned on?
