6th round and going forward will ALL be 1 year contracts (close to min) with no bird years.

-You can give one player 3 bird years.
-You can give one player an extra year on his contract (to make it two)

Don't feel like editing anymore contracts honestly. So this will make it easy on me.

I would like to use up these options for Vernon Maxwell.

Perfect, I was going to suggest this too so we have a halfway decent FA period.

I feel ya lol. But I also understand all that goes into entering those in.

We also need to have some guys available for free agency. If only 3 guys from each round were free agents this year it'd be an awful FA class and also not realistic.

It's fine. Not many good players will be leftover by the 8th round anyway.

I'll give Scotty Brooks the 2nd year and Ben Gillery the bird years.

Bird years are the number of seasons a player has gone without changing teams via free agency. When a player is traded, he maintains his bird years.

If a player is signing with a new team:

1) The contract can be for up to 6 seasons.

2) The player can receive a raise each year of up to 10% of the value of the first year of the contract.

3) The maximum value of the first year of the contract is the smaller of the amount of cap room the team has and the maximum salary the player can receive based up his experience in the league.

If a player is resigning with his previous team and has 3 or more bird years:

1) The contract can be for up to 7 seasons.

2) The player can receive a raise each year of up to 12.5% of the value of the first year of the contract

3) The player can receive the larger of the maximum salary based on his experience and 120% of his previous salary in the first year of the contract.

If a player is resigning with his previous team and has less than 3 bird years:

1) The contract can be for up to 6 seasons.

2) The player can receive a raise each year of up to 10% of the value of the first year of the contract.

3) The player can receive the larger of the team's salary cap room (up to the maximum salary) and 120% of his previous salary in the first year of the contract.

Ultimately 3 or more bird years basically give you the ability to offer a little more than everyone else. Also if you don't have any cap space, you can still resign guys like that. If you have a stud who only has 2 bird years and is on a small contract, and you don't have any cap space, you're screwed.
