Re: Roper leaving the program
I sure hope Masoli stays healthy all season and hopefully we can still redshirt Thomas. I also hope Costa will be healthy and his knee is strong and he can get some playing time in some blowout wins! Looking at the positive, this could possibly help the Ducks land a quality QB in this coming seasons recruiting class because of a reduction in depth.

oh man, I really want Roper to stay because he have more game expernice than costa have. I want DT to redshirt So we can have Masoli as number 1 Roper number 2 with Costa as number 3.

Re: Roper leaving the program
I wonder what is going on behind the scenes. I wonder if the circumstances of Pflugrad's father caused him to leave and Roper wanting to be a starter caused him to leave and lack of playing time for the other guys to leave or if there is some turmoil with the new coaches? I hope everything works out for the Ducks and some guys step up to fill these guys shoes.

Re: Roper leaving the program
Unfortunately, the team continues to get weaker and weaker with the reduction of quality depth. Hamani Stevens, Tonio Celotto, Aaron Pflugrad and Justin Roper would have all been, at minimum, a part of the two-deep depth chart. Their departures will make any injuries at their respective positions more glaring. Combine this with all the injury issues the Ducks had to deal with during the spring and Blount needing to get in shape just to get back to the level he was at last year, instead of working on improving his game, like he should have been. Sorry if I am being overly negative, but this hasn't been a terribly positive spring.

To be honest, it's been a brutal one. I totally agree with you. I'd say the only real bright spot is the play of Holland. Obviously, our season isn't doomed or anything, but our team has gotten weaker over the last couple months when it should've been getting stronger.VinnyKnuckles wrote:Unfortunately, the team continues to get weaker and weaker with the reduction of quality depth. Re: Roper leaving the program
And part of the problem with recruiting a QB prospect the last 2 cycles was supposedly the excessive depth at the position... Down now from 7 last spring to 3?
Wotinell!
Good luck, Rope! Sorry you feel the need to move on.

This spring sucks!
John Boyett should be moved to QB if he isn't in the 2 deep at Safety. Number 1, make it so.
I really like Roper, hope he finds great success at his next stop.
Anyone have a tape of Kellys end of Spring evaluation meetings? If not, we really need to get a bug planted in his office.

Too bad for Roper.
I always thought that he should've been the "man" over Masoli.
Having a perfect record and then being benched because of an injury seems very unfair.
I hope succeeds tremendously wherever he goes.

He was going to be the backup to Masoli, I really don't understand this. Masoli had better stay healthy.

Not a surprise? I think it's a huge surprise. Something fishy is going on here.

I don't think backing up in a system that doesn't fit him, and leaving for those reasons is fishy.

Good teams have 4 and 5 star backups that don't feel the need to transfer. And why the decision now?

Re: Roper leaving the program
Big surprise but I can't blame the guy, he's a good player and we have moved on to JM. This does hurt but we need to have Costa and ?? step up now while DT RS t be ready in the future...
This sucks for sure I liked the guy but JM is the better fit!
GO DUCKS!!
