Drazen Petrovic- B- B+ C C C B
There will be points. Easily a top 3 pick in this coming draft, he is always looking to score and knows how to get it there. He gets a little selfish at times but usually this selfishness is rewarded with points, or at least a tip back up toward the basket. Has never shown great commitment to the defensive side of the ball but has the on-ball skills to shift to the SF position.
Sarunas Marciulionis- B C+ C B C- C
The Lithuanian SSR prospect may be a little older, but that does not mean his ball skills are are diminished. Inconsistent from deep but very good midrange shooter, he is also a sneak finisher inside. In Seoul, he was the Soviet's leading scorer and he swiped a fair number of steals. Some have accused him (and the whole USSR team in general) for sandbagging in the early rounds as they seemed to go through the motions but turned it on for the medal rounds.
Nick Andersen- B C C C C- A
He surprised many by coming out early, but quickly became the standout of the combine. His physicals were off the charts: he posted a combine record record 47" vertical and blew away the guard record for reps on the bench press (he was #3 for the entire class in that test). His times on the sprints and agility test compare favorably to those of Deion Sanders (who is a likely top pick in this year's NFL draft). The skills part of the combine Andersen was only in the middle of the pack but scouts rave about his potential.
Byron Irvin- C+ B C B C- D
Very complete shooter. Good first step combined with a smooth release lead to many open jumpers. He has the legs to finish inside and a good defender. Most believe he may have topped out but if he has any potential still within him, he has 6th MOY written all over him.
Todd Lichti- C+ C- C B C- A
Finishes his career as Stanford's all time leading scorer. His smooth finishes were complemented by his good athleticism. Great defender, will get his fair share of steals. Not the most amazing potential in this class, but very solid.
Other shooting guard prospects:
Derrick Gervin- C+ C- D- B- C C
Decent both outside and inside, solid defender. Quick hands on defense. Age may be an issue.
Henry Turner- C+ D D+ B- C- B
Good defender helped by great strength. Poor FT shooter. Only above average potential.
Jaren Jackson- C C D B- D+ A
No 3-pt range but very good jump shot. Excellent defender. Not overly strong nor quick. Very good potential.
Lanard Copeland- C C- D+ C+ D+ A
Good vertical and a great looking mid-range shot. Scouts like what they saw in college, but worry his competition was not the greatest at Georgia State.
Stanley Brundy SG 6'6'' 210 21 B- D- D- B- C- A
Good finisher inside but no 3pt range. Decent defender, good vertical led to a surprising number of blocks. A potential but scouts grade it to a low A.
