Throw back uniforms?

Post by nogerO »

I think it would be amazing if we used say the 94 rose bowl unis. Or the one's we used just before we changed to the O. Green pants, white jerseys, yellow lid.

It would only be cool if we used it for one game.

I agree I wouldn't want them as our usual game day uniforms just every once in awhile for special games!

As someone else mentioned earlier. There would be something weird about seeing those old uniforms running Chip Kelly's spread option.

Even if they made throwback uniforms, they wouldn't look anything like the old uniforms, unless they wanted to sacrifice performance. The new era of uniforms don't fit anything like the old uniforms, they aren't made with the same materials, they use different pads, etc.

It all seems a bit pointless to me, but everyone has their own opinion.

I hate throwback uni's. I want Oregon and Nike to continue to be the hotbed of innovation. It is what defines the program. I guess I'm in the minority here though.

Every so often (special games obviously) I'd love to switch back to the plain but sharp unis from the Joey years.

I just wanna win games..irregardless of what uniforms the boys do it in...But, that being said..I was thinkin something more along the lines of an orange and black combo for the Civil War...
Hell, last year we stripped em of ALL their pride, may as well take their colors too..maybe something with a sports bra look....lol

Completely agreed. I don't want retro jerseys to makes their way into our repertoire. However, it would be refreshing for us to pull out some oldies every couple years.

I agree as well. And if they do it, I'm thinking waaaay old skool. No 90s or later. Go for the full classic look!

I'm beginning to dig how each era seemingly has its own uniforms now. When I look back over the games I have collected to DVD, it is interesting in its own right to see the uniform evolutions. Now the Masoli era will look largely different from the Dixon era, which was entirely different than the unis Kellen wore, which were nothing like the Harrington era duds, which again were nothing like the fighting lightbulbs of the Smith era.

Going throwback is a bad idea on two fronts. It undermines the "fast forward" look the Ducks have actually established. Secondly, the old uniforms, pre-'98, were better in the faulty memory than in their reality.

When I watch the '94 season and the Rose Bowl, I see a team that looks like the poor man's Packers. I don't miss the none too "classic" look at all. Classic sucked for us. Too small college block letters and merit stickers on the helmet with Donald Duck on the sleeves? FAIL. Getting rid of traditional striping on the jerseys and helmets is the best thing that ever happened to the Ducks' football uniforms. Relegating Donald to the sideline was also a necessary move given the marketing restrictions Disney imposed on us.

The green "O" helmet is what ties the post '98 eras together with some continuity. The green helmets should remain the one we don the majority of games for that reason alone--that and they are the best in the biz on a sunny fall afternoon.

Ugh.

Better, but still not great.

A one time throwback I could get behind. . . .

I'll still take where we are today.
