It wasn’t about being moved from quarterback to receiver last fall, his lone season in Eugene. It wasn’t about Bill Snyder’s return to Kansas State, where Harper will play once fall camp begins in August.
It was, Harper said, about a young man who didn’t realize until it was too late that he wasn’t yet ready to move so far from home, the 1,200 miles from Wichita to Eugene feeling like forever.

Who wants to hang around Kansas? Going away to college is all about growing up. Just about everyone is homesick. You get over it.

I still don't buy it. He wanted to play QB, simple as that.

Who really cares if he has hard feelings, he's the one that made a commitment and then didn't live up to it

man this kid need to grow up. Ya its college you leave home. And its not like a average freshman either he already has 100 people he knows from the football team before school even starts. I almost went to Harding which is in Arkansas that is a heck of a long way from Oregon. I did not know anybody either all that to say sounds like a pretty poor excuse and that i personally believe there was a whole lotta hanky panky

he told a Kansas newspaper something like "I am a QB" so I am not buying this whole "homesick" excuse.

I've made peace with it. The reason doesn't matter. I appreciate that he said there are no hard feelings. I wish him luck at KSU (until they play the Ducks).

I'm not sure why he would have hard feelings. Oregon lived up to its end of the deal in giving him a scholarship and letting him try to be a QB.
It's like a guy who quits his job because the commute is too long and then when he gets a new job saying he doesn't have hard feelings toward the old job. It's not Oregon's fault he didn't consider distance.
It would make more sense if the statement was made by a current player on Oregon's roster. Harper is a quitter, but I don't have any hard feelings.

Call him a quitter if you want but he's a young man, some people at that age change their mind, I don't think he's a worse person for it, he's going to find where he belongs and he felt it wasn't at Oregon.

It's obvious he left Oregon because he wants to play quarterback. The "being homesick" is a load of crap. How many other players leave top programs because they are homesick? They didn't like the situation they were in so they decide to transfer. Anyway, it's over and done with. We don't need players like this on our team anyway.

I've been as or more vocal than anyone doubting the homesickness explanation. But, look at it this way, he cared enough to address it in a public way and went out of his way to say that he has no hard feelings. Had he left it to speculation, I would have maintained my previous position. But, got to give a guy the right to stand on his own word, especially if he's willing to put his heart on his sleeve about it.
Pflugrad I am still interested to hear a clarification from. Not that he might not have a reasonable one. I just think it's kind of the same deal. We supported him for a few years. The least he can do is clear the air of speculation for the fans who were behind him from day one.
