It's all pretty preliminary, but it sounds like they're in talks with either the ACC or Big 12 to start a joint national sports channel.

The next round of college TV rights deals could lead to some intriguing partnerships, judging by the scenarios being discussed at three conference headquarters.

Sources close to the ACC, Big 12 and Pac-10 say they will look into the feasibility of a single national channel that would combine the programming of two conferences. Whether that scenario would lead to an ACC/Pac-10 joint venture or a Big 12/Pac-10 partnership remains to be seen.

A network involving the Big 12 and Pac-10 makes more sense than one with the ACC. The Big 12 is the closest BCS conference and it would really help the Pac-10 in exposure since that area includes some fairly big cities (Dallas, Houston, Denver, San Antonio, OK City, Kansas City.) It also makes sense since the teams from the Pac-10 and Big 12 regularly schedule games against each other.

the acc move would give us the east coast viewership. But I think the big12 will be where it ends up. I would be interested to see how the programing would go. something tells me that the pac-10 would get screwed some how.

I don't know if I agree that Big 12 would be a better match than ACC.

Wouldn't it be nice to be on the same network as the ACC? That'd help a lot with some east coast exposure. Could open the doors even more for recruiting.

Honestly, I'd be fine with either. As long as a deal like this gets done, I'm happy either way.

The time the games are played will still affect the east coast perception of the PAC 10.

Could be very interesting.

Perhaps they will adopt a new currency like the EU did to join together and compete with the US.

the one positive with the acc would be that we wouldnt split that much tv time with them since their games start earlier but i would be happy with either since i cant get comcast sports northwest and it sucks just as bad as fox sports seattle imo...

True, but how many night games (starting at 6 pm pst or later) do the ducks play each season? Maybe 3 or so? Still worth it IMO.

Since they will want viewership as a way to bring in ad money they need to decide which conference will have the biggest national following. Additionally, the will need to look at market sizes. Houston and Dallas are large but so are Miami, Boston, Baltimore, and Raleigh/Durham.

I would say take ACC based on viewership and market sizes.

Which one would be better for recruiting? Texas or the east coast? We've been more successful with Texas, but Chip really likes the East Coast.

A Big 12 partnership makes the most sense. Larger fanbase (yes, there is the "East Coast" opprotunities, but that's mainly the SEC) and we already have several tie ins to play Big 12 teams.

We'll see. I have a feeling we're on the verge of breaking through on the east coast.
