What does everyone think our depth chart will look like for the Boise State, season opener for our skill positions?

My guess:

Qb: Masoli/Costa/DT

Rb: Blount/James/Crenshaw/Alston

Wr: Jamere/Davis/Tuinei

TE: Dickson/Lewis/Paulson

Slot: Maehl/Jackson/Cantu

Wr: Gaines/Embry/Jordan

I think that looks good. I really hope that is the starting line-up, but I don't know if Gaines will be the starter in the opener. If he is, then we know he really put in work during fall camp to pass others on the depth chart.

I also think the second spot at RB is going to be pretty wide open and will be an interesting battle. James has the speed/quicks, but the other two have experience. I think James will get the bulk of carries besides Blount, but I hate to count the other two out.

I think Holland and Maehl have their WR positions locked down for the most part. The other wide out spot should be pretty up for grabs.

If the coaches don't announce who the starters are before the game I will be looking to see who is starting at every position.

I think Crenshaw will be the official #2 and get most of the non-Blount carries. But, I also think that the other two will be brought in by design for certain looks/games.

I think W4Prez is right about Crenshaw being number 2, but lets hope we have a bunch of blowouts early so they all get a chance to show their stuff in real games.

I doubt Cavaille will drop from starter at present to all the way off the 3 deep. I also would be surprised if Diante Jackson were able to make the 3 deep by the end of fall camp.

That's right. I forgot about Cavaille. I think if anybody had a chance to pass him it would be Davis, Tunei and Gaines.

Which could be a bad or good thing. Personally I love the fact we'll have all our line coming back for 2010.

i dunno, i'm still puttin' my money on LMJ......everyone is so high on him, everyone who's seen him in workouts is astounded.....he's the second fastest man on the team, only behind Holland; cuts in and out like nobody's business!

Shoot I was just out in Oregon last week and was at the Autzen Ducks Store and the campus bookstore and loaded up on stuff but was disappointed the jerseys were not out yet. Guess I will have to order one or two online before the Boise State game!

Something tells me that we may be underestimating Dion Jordan.

Wow. I hadn't even realized that. That means we'll have our starting QB, ALL (!) of our starting o-line, two of our starting WR's (unless Cavaille remains a starter, which I think is unlikely), half our starting d-line, all our starting LBs, and half our starting DB's back for the '10-'11 season. Christ. I think there's even more potential for that year than this one, assuming we'll be able to find a legit RB once Blount leaves.

Where exactly on our schedule do you see a "bunch of blowouts early?" Maybe Purdue and probably the Cooogs. Pretty damned tough early schedule. IF we come out of this portion of the scedule at 3-2, I for one will be a happy Ducky.

Rivals ranked our September schedule as the 2nd hardest in the country. I'm with nogero, I wouldn't be worrying about blowing teams out. Our main agenda should be to just win, especially in this ridiculously stacked September schedule.

That's why the word "hope" was used. No prediction intended. Besides predicting blowouts is not that easy. What were the presason odds of blowing out ASU last year on the road or blowing out Oregon State at Reser.
