Sweet! I hope he rocks for them. Still bummed that he spurned the hometown Ducks. Also glad the Ducks won't have to face him anymore.thomas time wrote:Mariners take Andrew Moore with 72nd pick

Re: MLB Draft
Looks like Oregon's top recruit, Demi Orimoloye, wasn't taken today in the first 2 rounds when he was rated as the 41st best prospect overall by Baseball America. Still think he'll get drafted early tomorrow and not show up at Oregon. Tough for kids and their families to turn down the kind of money they offer even to 3rd or 4th round picks (last year's final 4th round pick was valued at over $374K while the first 3rd round pick was at $748K.)

Re: MLB Draft
I don't see Irvin leaving now. He has a lot of room to move up if he proves he's back to his FR form.

Re: MLB Draft
the three drafted ducks are obviously gonzo, and i imagine heineman will be, too, barring a massive slide (which I don't see coming). doubt we see the canadian kid, which is too bad.
an irvin/krook/peterson rotation has a lot of potential.

Re: MLB Draft
I felt like this year we had noticeably fewer recruits that we were concerned about losing. Just a weaker class in general?oregontrack wrote:the three drafted ducks are obviously gonzo, and i imagine heineman will be, too, barring a massive slide (which I don't see coming). doubt we see the canadian kid, which is too bad.

Re: MLB Draft
a little weaker than our pre-mlb draft classes usually look, yeah. horton said in an interview a few weeks ago that he's not going to shy away from recruiting top talent, so i don't think it was a change in philosophy, i think we may have just whiffed on a few. i don't know how this year's west coast crop compares to years past, either. may have been a bit of a down year in talent for everyone.

Re: MLB Draft
OSU also usually has a few recruits taken by now so it looks like both teams either had down recruiting years or whiffed on a quite a few high end guys that committed elsewhere but were drafted. Based on Perfect Game's recruiting rankings, Oregon has the 13th best class but their average player ranking is only 4.79, below their 5.0 average the past couple seasons. That ranking will take a hit when Orimoloye likely signs with the Brewers. About the only good thing about this for Oregon is a lot will likely show up now, giving them another solid FR class to follow the one they just had this past season. I still imagine there'll be some guys who are drafted in the lower rounds tomorrow who'll test the pro level and never be heard from again.

Re: MLB Draft
Good to luck to our guys that are drafted!
Unfortunately the top guys leaving will be the biggest loss as they really turned it on at least in the last half of the year.
As far as the recruits go, it probably won't make any impact on the team if we lose a lot to the draft. Like someone said, it seems like a weak class so going by the pattern of the Horton teams they will be around the .200 line if they crack the lineup.
Cole Irvin should go. He was roughed up this year and looked pretty bad. He might end up like Chase and flame out if he comes back. Also expecting Krook to have a similar year as Irvin, and Harber/Peterson were never that impressive. Graham was a stud and will be a huge loss. It should be interesting to see the pitching rotation next year.
