san diego state has made three consecutive postseasons, and they're the 2016 mountain west favorite. so at least our RPI should benefit by ditching hawaii.

looks like sdsu lost their friday and saturday starters from last year, bubba derby and mark seyler. they return two guys with starting experience, juniors marcus reyes (7-3, 4.20 era) and cody thompson (4-4, 4.32 era). their most interesting option on the mound might be mike diamond, a jc transfer who can touch the mid-90s on his fastball, but i don't know if they've figured out if he's going to start or close games for them.

they lost their top power bats (steven pallares, .352/9/48, seby zavala, .290/14/67), but return a lot of their position guys. they're more of a base stealing, hit-and-run team than a wait-for-the-home-run club, so i don't think their ability to score runs will be greatly impacted. they have a lot of guys coming back who hit for average and can get on base. they'll be a good, early-season test for our vaunted pitching staff.

Yup baseball starts this week, get excited.

Much better than the previous ones, as they had too many extraneous shapes and stripes for my taste. Also, they seemed to have gotten some nice Kelly green ones that I'm sure many will like.



They've also released photos of their new batting helmets.

sdsu's guy is a lefty and we have 5 straight lefties in the heart of our lineup. of them, only packard has been able to get a hit (a double that didn't lead to anything). our damage came in the 3rd with miniot, patzlaff, and grebeck (all righties).

irvin is just rolling. sdsu's announcer said it best, sdsu can't even begin to worry about RISP, they can't even connect bat to ball. lots of swings and misses tonight. this is freshman cole irvin.

Ducks win 4-3 to sweep. Balta hit a go ahead 3 run homer with 2 out in the 8th to give oregon the lead
