My thoughts... Embry starting at WR is a little surprising, but I definitely have no problem with that... Ferras wins the DT job, should be interesting to see how he plays... Anyone else really excited about our PR & KR groups? I think we could get a few touchdowns from special teams this year.

From the various reports from camp, Embry has been a very consistent player who has really improved himself over the offseason. The 2-deep at WR/TE is amazing considering that list doesn't even include Gaines, Jackson, Jordan, or Lewis. Our return game should be at a level that it hasn't been at in awhile. The only area I'm worried about is our O-line

I expect that their will be a good deal of rotation among the receivers. Can anyone shed some light on how much of that we'll see?

PR/KR scares me. I honestly hate to see Thurmond back there because I'm always worried that he'll get hurt or tired out. Hope James can catch better than the practice reports let on.

Are they redshirting Mike Bowlin?
Does anybody know how well he's been doing?
I always think that Punters and Kickers are overlooked and that they are often the difference in a close game. I was ecstatic last year when we got Bowlin and Rice.

I think they will try to redshirt him, but you never know since he may improve as the season goes on and may prove too good to keep off the field.

Kelly says there will be a rotation of 6 receivers and 3 tight ends.

I think it is possible that the two deep may be a bit deceiving because of the rotation between the Slot and Tazer position.

For instance I wouldn't be surprised if James being listed at #2 behind Blount is not accurate. I think it may mean he is number one Tazer, but when Blount goes out it will likely be Crenshaw or Alston coming in for him. I also think that Maehl is number one at both WR and Slot depending on whether they are using a slot ot Tazer in the game.

For example I think we may see a first down package of Holland and Maehl at WR, Dickson at TE, James at Tazer and Blount at running back. 2nd or 3rd and long, Holland and DJ Davis at Wr, Maehl at Slot, Dickson at TE and Blount or Crenshaw. On Short yardage, Dickson at Tazer, Jordan at TE, and the best blocking receivers at TE.

I am guessing that when Dickson is given a rest Paulson will sub for him and play the same role but when they go two TE on running downs Jordan might be the 2nd TE not Paulson.

One would think that w/Flint being a SR and Beard doing reasonably well thus far, that they'll make every attempt to RS Bowlin. Of the 2 highly thought of FR kicker/punters, Rice is making the bigger splash and I believe more predicted he would.

If Beard does decent on KO's, then there wouldn't be the necessity of playing Bowlin. Let Flint handle PATs and FGs. If he struggles beyond 40, then let Beard take his crack on the longer ones. The question marks will be how strong is Beard's leg? Can he consistently get it to the end line or beyond on KO's? Also, is Morgan's leg strength improved like some suggest? Can he be reasonably consistent from 40-45 yds?

It would be great if we could redshirt diante jackson or Gaines or both and give us some depth for next year. Kelly has said he won't waste a player's season on a few reps.

The most disappointing thing about the depth chart is that Talmadge Jackson was forced back to corner, although he isn't necessarily locked in there the entire game since coaches can always shuffle players around depending on the circumstances. I know the coaches were really looking forward to him bringing a different element to the Rover position with his better pass coverage and ball hawking capabilities. Glasper missing time due to his pelvic injury had to factor into that. I would much rather see Talmadge at Rover than either Javes Lewis or Marvin Johnson. Javes didn't impress me at all last season, although to be fair he was only a redshirt freshman and players typically make big strides the following year after getting their feet wet. Marvin Johnson is a very physical player that can make some highlight plays, but he is too similar to Ward for that to be a pairing I am comfortable with. I would be worried about both of them being too focused on laying big hits as run enforcers while tricky Boise State takes advantage of their aggressiveness.

I wish we didn't have WTIII returning punts. It just seems like we have some other dynamic returners on the team that could take the duty and leave him with a lower chance of getting hurt. I want him healthy all season for the sake of our defense.

I maybe wrong, but I think I read on Rob Moseley's blog that they are going to rotate three guys in at PK. I think its somewhere in here

I do echo the sentiment though regarding WT3 back there. I don't like giving the other team a chance to take a shot at the team's best defensive player.

Especially against a team that obviously has no compunction about taking unnecessary cheap shots at unprotected players.

If he has good enough hands, I really like the idea of Barner returning punts. He has shown pretty decent vision as a RB in the few times I have seen him in practice and scrimmage. That coupled with his speed and lower position on the depth chart makes him an intriguing candidate in my opinion.
