"Youngsters" vs. Purdue...

After the game Chip mentioned how proud he was of ALL the young guys they had to throw out there on defense last night.
Obviously Boyett played the whole game and did admirably, Clay had to play alot b/c of Paysinger's injury, but I cannot figure out who ALL of these youngsters were... Did anyone else see any of the young guys in there cuz I sure didn't. If I had to guess I'd say maybe Grady played a little bit, but I have no clue. Anyone know who else Chip was talking about?

Barner, James, guess you could throw Littlejohn and others in there in terms of Div 1 experience.

Off the top off my head: James, Barner, Kaddu, Littlejohn, Clay, Weems, York, Boyett, Tuinei (80?), Rice.......anyone else?

I was a little surprised to see Michael Clay playing so much, but I think he did a pretty good job.

Diante has been on the sideline in just his jersey for both games, so I would assume he is redshirting.

BoLo is redshirting. Let's just hope that it stays that way because we will need him in the future!

Clay has got to be a very good player to be able to play in Alliotti's complex system as a true freshman. Kinda wish were redshirting him with all the other talent we have at LB, although he's also our long snapper.
He's got to have a very good head on his shoulders as well the physical talent to be able to do all that as a true frosh.

Gaines played on special teams last night, so he is out for a redshirt.

If they're good enough to play now, what does it matter?
Obviously we don't want to waste a year like we did for Dixon or Scott by just putting them in for a few plays, but if they earn the PT, give it to them.

Kelly did say that he noticed that we wasted eligibility on some guys before and that he would be much more careful about it and will only use true frosh if they're gonna play in every game

So that rules out just about everyone but Rice and Clay.
