Re: Utah @ Oregon Game Thread
My keys to the game:
1. Get the running game going early.
2. Give Masoli time to find his receivers and throw some deep balls.
3. Put pressure on the Utah qb.
4. Stop the run.
Obviously there are more, but those are my top 4.

I don't get why we delay blitz our LB's so much. It doesn't work. Maybe blitz Pleasant and or Littlejohn off the edge, or stunt them with the d-end, because they're fast. Did Matthews get in there on any blitz? I really don't think he did. And I would like to see a zone blitz. It seemed like every time the LB's showed blitz, they blitzed. It was too easy to read.

Re: Utah @ Oregon Game Thread
I know Utah has struggled against weak opponents so far this season but they are a well coached team like Boise State so Chip and his staff need a good game plan and the players need to get excited about this game and execute. They won't beat Utah if they play like they did last week. The D needs to stop them on 3rd down and put pressure on their young QB and the offense and special teams need to limit mistakes (penalties and turnovers). LMJ and Barner need more touches and Masoli needs to roll outside of the pocket to get the ball to Dickson, Holland, Maehl and the RB's.

Re: Utah @ Oregon Game Thread
Kelly stated concern about Dickson not being involved. I expect significant work there esp. if a review of the film shows him open. Gettting this offense flowing is still a work in progress. Utah is very good run defense with mediocare dbs at the moment. Masoli will need to work on the passing game to get the LB's off the line to get a running game going. I think James and Barner might have been a bit overawed at their first home game at Autzen perhaps trying to do something on their own and overlooking the small details, like reading the holes. Masolis reads progressed better as the game went on.
Utah was sloppy against SJS, hopefully that carries forward and we get a few turnovers. The defense cannot win this game.

4. Stop the run. Nuff said.

Quoted because these are my top four as well - with minor clarifications.

It's going to be a very tough game. I think Utah wins by a TD but I hope I'm wrong.

Re: Utah @ Oregon Game Thread
Utah is a very experienced team when you look at what their depth chart was against San Jose State. Out of the 12 players listed as first-string on the defensive side of the ball (obviously only 11 can play at a time), 9 of them are seniors. Looking at their top 4 receivers, 3 are seniors and the other 1 is a junior. Their starting tight end is a senior. Their starting running back is a senior. Their offensive line only has 1 senior, but 3 of the others are juniors and only 1 is a sophomore. I hope experience isn't the deciding factor in this game since Utah wins that category in a landslide.
Of course, quarterback is one area where Utah doesn't have much experience with a first year JC transfer starting. Considering how young and/or inexperienced quarterbacks often don't seem to have much trouble excelling against the Ducks, it remains to be seen if this is really an edge at all.
As will be the case in nearly every game the Ducks play this season, Utah is an overall much bigger team than the Ducks.

By the way, Utah's starting running back is reportedly questionable against Oregon with a shoulder injury. He will be a game-time decision. They also have a starting offensive lineman that is questionable with a knee injury.

I think he means just one thread to discuss any of the other college football games each week.

Re: Utah @ Oregon Game Thread
Texas Tech vs Texas gets college gameday? really? Had we beaten Boise, I'm pretty sure Oregon vs Utah would have landed college gameday. 2 top 16 teams.
