Thanks for tuning in to this edition of Playoff Preview! I'm your host PistolPeteJR, and today we examine a playoff matchup out West between the #1 seed Portland Trailblazers and the "barely" #8 seed Vancouver Grizzlies.

The Trailblazers can do it all; they are tied with the Chicago Bulls for the best record in the league this year at 63-19, and doing it while outscoring opponents by 9 points-per-game. Their offense is elite, while their defense is average. They boast a top-6 3PT% in the league, lead by guards Brandon Jennings and Lou Williams, their elite backcourt duo.

Vancouver has been on a tear since the ASB, going 27-14 in that span, and 16-6 since deaing Draymond Green, now a member of the Phoenix Suns, for defensive anchor Nerlens Noel. They are tied for 4th with the Trailblazers in PPG league-wide, and just edge Portland in 3PT% at a very similar volume by a mere 0.001%! Very similar teams on the offensive end, except for one thing: in this matchup, Vancouver has been passing the ball far better than Portland has, 30 APG vs 22.75 APG. Very surprising, considering the teams are very similar in APG for the season at 25.7 in the Grizzlies' favour and 25.1 in the Blazers'.

The bulk of the differences are on defense. The Grizzlies are one of the worst teams in the league on the opposite end of the court, while the Blazers are average at best. However, the Grizzlies seem to relish this matchup, forcing turnovers galore out of a team that protected the ball better than anyone has in the league this season. Furthermore, the Grizzlies have taken and made more shots than the Trailblazers in their four matchups, a big factor in the +11 point differential per game.

Take a look at the chart below for more, especially for matchup comparisons!

Its at the bottom when you edit the initial post. I can do it if you need some help.

You are only allowed one article per season that counts for +3 or +5. All other articles count as just for fun

Seriously? What's the point of articles then to generate discussion and activity? :S

Prevention of stat stacking for a team.

Seriously, not to mention inflation.

It wouldn't be fair because the teenager doing nothing all summer could write articles for days and load up, while the hard working middle class have no time to do such things and naturally they get the short end of the stick.

I see your point here (I'd like to point out I'm not a teenager lol), but how do you reward activity then? Seems to defeat the purpose...

We don't need top notch activity here. We've been running for like 40 seasons at a reasonable pace with reasonable activity. There's usually only like 5-7 GMs that are kinda slacking and not responding to PMs. Majority of the other GMs are fine.

Increasing rewards just puts more pressure on people to be more active for the sake of being active, which in turn will turn off a lot of people like me. If I'm asked to do anymore than I am now, I probably would quit. Just wouldn't have the time, when others would, giving others an unfair advantage.
