to improve the passing game.

Guess we know why Colorado was elated when he left.
Seriously, 4 of 16 for 95 yards?????????? Not quite as bad as 3-14 on third down conversions but close.

Wrong target ...
The guy with the ball in his hands has everything to do with it.

Also, Helfrich isn't calling plays, he's new to the spread, and he is new to Oregon. I would give him a year or two before jumping on his back.

I think the guy coaching the 'guy with the ball in his hands' has some responsibility. Last year Masoli was an adequate passer. Helfrich was hired in part because of his work improving quarterbacks. Masoli hasn't improved in any aspect of his game this year, and the passing game (Helfrich's forte) is horrible, bordering on non-existent.
Only two wide receivers have caught a pass this year, grand total of 18 for three games. I wonder if Cal will play ten in the box.

Well, considering the quality of the opponents we have played and considering how our team has changed, we arent doing all that bad...and, we are improving every game..I spose if ya arent happy with things as they are, you can always become a Beaver Fan....
Myself, I will keep Helfrich and give him some time for growing pains..and the same with CK and all of the young players we have this year....

It seems Helfrich has already made an impact with a couple of good recruits and will probably get more. It's not his fault Masoli is uncomfortable passing the ball from inside the pocket.

maybe the receiver's coach should teach our guys to catch with their heads, shoulders, knees and toes.

One thing ive noticed is there are not near as many WR screens called this year. The bubble screen was a big part of last years passing game. Im guessing it has to do with a young O-Line. Or not having a Max Unger under center but the short passing game was a staple last year. Id like to see more of the short passing game just to build confidence.

We also don't have JWill out there laying blocks this year. The screens might not be as effective?

Good point, Karl. Both JWill and LGB accounted for some excellent blocking last season.

Please! Ten in the box? Why would they play ten in the box when they could play eleven?

Hmmm,...could this be Kelly's devious master plan, show an ineffective non-existent passing game going into the Cal game; hope they load the box, then release the Masoli we saw at the end of last season on them.
