Can someone enlighten me on the Leon situation?

I heard he was academically ineligible, and that may be true. But if this is true, then why is he close to committing to Cal? Berkeley is wayy harder to get into than U of O! I don't understand how these recruits are ineligible then go to another D1 school.

Apparently our transfer requirements have changed and it's become tougher for JC kids to be accepted. I don't know any other details unfortunately

It has something to do with internet courses and whether they transfer and stuff like that. It's not a done deal he doesn't make it though.

Does anyone know when these requirements started? I don't think the coaching staff knew this was coming with how many JC guys they are going after. If we lose Leon that would be 2 5 stars and 2 4 stars that couldn't get in from JC's this year.

Yeah, I would definitely like to hear more about this situation from someone "in the know". It seems to have had a major effect on recruiting recently.

According to Moseley, this is incorrect.

Then I'm confused. How can JC guys get into other schools but not Oregon?

Personally I think it is a waste of time going after so many junior college players if looks like they will not qualify. Why do we not spend the time and the effort going after guys that will be smart enough without any complications. We keep going after them and we keep losing out on them. Yes we get a few but we should be sure they will qualify.. before wasting any money on them. How many recruits do we miss out on cause we do not recruit them. We go after JC players only to have them not qualify. Justin Thompson... Myles Wade... Simi Fili.. Anthony Leon... and the list goes on.

I've always wondered, why does Oregon go after more JC recruits than any other team?

Looking at the commits over the years, I noticed we have gotten a ton of JC recruits from CC of San Francisco. Most have amounted to nothing, until Masoli came along. Another JC guy I forgot about was Dexter Manley.

Nobody has any true info that he won't qualify at Oregon.
He is just being enticed to check out Cal which in recruiting is I think our biggest rival and they've been beating us way too much for my liking, he's the last recruit I would want to end up at Cal.

We're nowhere near as bad as KState was as far the amount of JC's. And City College of San Francisco is one of the JC powerhouses.
