Trade makes sense on both sides. With 4 max contracts on the books now for the Nuggets and an aging Larry, '92 might end up being pretty good down the line. For this year though, Bird is probably the most perfect fit for the Nuggets. Doubt Bird could fetch anymore than this given that massive contract at age 32.

Glad to get rid of that contract with this team; was hoping to build around him but could not figure out the pieces to make it work without just diving full in.

No protection on the 92 is gold for Bullets.
Nice trade for them. They could likely squeeze another first out of Birdsong too.

Nuggets look good on paper. Those contracts after TC’s though… time will tell
