With Wheaton out of the picture and Hall not coming here (IMO), and Gaines 50/50, we will probably end up with Diante Jackson and Tunei as our only two receivers. But, keep in mind, we will still have Jordan, Cantu, Krout, and Embry. Those are some new faces that will see the field along side of Harper, Holland, Maehl, Davis, and Pflugrad. With them, they will have Dickson, Ward, and Lewis receiving out of the slot position. We are fine at WR for next season, no worries. We can afford an off year in the receiving category. Next year however, we cannot afford to let this happen again. The main issue is the lack of a WR coach at the moment. Hopefully, all coaching issues will be figured out next year and we should be able to recruit better at the WR position.

Well now it seems right that we would only be taking 2 receivers in this class. We only lost J-Will and Scott so there really aren't all that many scholarships for WRs left. Plus, Cantu technically counts towards this class so we could actually already have 3 WRs in this class. I think if Gaines were to commit, that would be 6 WRs in the JR class alone; to me the coaches should space it out more. Either take 1 more HS WR or don't take any more.

I'm not saying he is out. But I didn't get the greatest impression from his trip. I don't have any inside info on him.

Like I have said before, the key to this WR recruiting class is Diante. He is the best high school wide receiver the Ducks have had any shot at this entire time. If he sticks with the Ducks, things are fine. The ideal number of receivers to land in this recruiting class would be 3, in my opinion. If the Ducks were to only land 2, with Jackson being on of them, it isn't anything to worry much about. The Ducks would just look to land an extra receiver next year to make up for it. Not a big deal. The important thing would be getting Diante, who has the potential to be a #1 option receiver for the Ducks down the line.

If Diante doesn't stick with the Ducks, then this recruiting class looks to be a bit of a mess from a wide receiver standpoint.

According to someone in the know on Educk Hall didn't have a good trip. Said UO tried to hard and was too flashy or something like that.

Hall would be a great get, but also needs to learn a lot as a WR as he was a better db in high school. He like Wheaton does not like us having a position coach at the position he plays.
IMO (in my opinion) or sometimes IMHO (in my honest opinion)- a couple things to consider about the WR's or lack of: the coaching change mid recruiting time was a DISASTEROUS move, however we have talent on the team and we need some more. BUT what we are witnessing right now is a change in our team, the way we recruit, and who we recruit. CK is now the man, he is much more hands on (offensively) than MB. This is his first late chance to put his fingerprint on this recruiting class and get the guys he feels he must have for his offense. It's noted he likes big solid blocking WR's. Does Wheaton fill that requirement, not really, I'm not saying he isn't good, but we knew we had him all along, and I refuse to believe CK would let this kid go if he absolutely wanted him, regardless of Pflu. And it's also no surprise we have 2 4* offensive recruits for 2010, with so many more high profile kids looking to pay their own way to see what's going on up here. CK is recruiting his nuts off, but I have a feeling he is dedicating a little more time to 2010 than 2009 so he can "get" those players he seeks with certain skill sets. That's my 2 cents. I don't have proof of any of this, but it certainly makes some sense.

That could possibly explain some of the recruits choosing other schools, I like your theory. There is still time to catch some big time 2009 recruits, though. GO DUCKS!

The WR coaching move may have been “disastrous” on current WR recruiting, but how would Wheaton, Hall and others felt if Pflugrad were let go right after signing day? That would have been a d*ck move by us, at least we gave the kids the option, rather than burning them just get them to sign with us.

Agree with Jimmy. The coaching uncertainties have been bad for recruiting, but CK acted with class by getting this over with now.

We were never as bad off at WR as people really seemed to think. What would makes us bad off is if they can't catch. For our offense we are good.
