Would you trade??

If you could wave a magic wand and trade Dante Moore for David Hicks and Matayo Uiagalelei would you do it? Is a 5 star QB worth more than two 5 star defensive linemen and why?

I would, I think Nix is an indicator that this coaching staff can bring out the best in a transfer QB. Go get someone like DJ U and see if being at Oregon with less pressure and brilliant offensive mind like Dilly can bring out the best in him. Things aren’t going well in Clemson, I could easily see him transferring after this season. With that said, I’d gladly take all 3.

That’s a no brainer yes for me. Dominant d lineman are what makes CFB champions.

How many champions have had "Oregon backup QB" level talent?

Would I trade Oregon's success for South Carolina's or Ole Miss' (teams that have had dominant individual DL and not much else)?

I didn’t know the question meant subpar QB play, just not Dante Moore is all. If it means sub par QB then I take my answer back.

Yea, clearly the answer is "both" when you have Oregon's aspirations. The answer is Dante Moore if you have Ole Miss' historical problems, and Matayo U if you have Oregon's. lol

The question is risk-reward. Is the risk of sub-par QB play more of a danger to a team than the risk of sub-par defensive line play?

If Dante truly is the #1 or 2 QB in the nation and will basically be Caleb Williams 2.0, no

The hit rate on 5 star DL is definitely higher than 5 star QBs though so getting a couple DL is likely safer.

This is exactly why I answered the way I did.

If you’re just playing the odds it’s more likely Dante is Ty Thompson and not Caleb Williams.

I can think of plenty of 5* DL who didn't pan out and not just at Oregon if you want to play that game.

Will Anderson had one of the greatest seasons of All-time for a DE last year and his QB won the Heisman but they lost the NC to a walk-on QB.

We lost to Auburn because they had 1 QB and 1 DT and that was it.
We lost to Ohio State because they ran the ball all over our asses with multiple 1st round DL so that a nobody at QB worked us.

Are we also trading the rest of our roster away too? The Ducks would be adding two top rated players to a position of need in an already healthy roster, not trying to build an entire roster around a couple top players like the teams you mentioned.

No. Matayo might be as good as the rankings say, but I’ve long felt he is more interested in off the field stuff (music) than football.

And we have NO QB on the roster. If we had to roll with either QB we have, we go 6-6 at best.

I’m not seeing how your examples devalue DL.
