QB: B, Gabriel is talented but some bad reads and taking too many sacks has stalled drives.
RB: B-, Jordon looks the part, but no one else has really shown anything. We are usually deep at RB.
WR: A-, they're doing what we expect them to. Getting open and catching passes.
TE: B, blocking isn't as great as it can be and Herbert's fumble sucked. But great depth.
OL: C-, not the worst, but by Oregon's standard nearly a failing grade.

DL: B-, only one sack against Boise (for one yard loss) on 40 passes attempted.
LB: B-, Look above. Jeanty is great, but 6.7 ypc gives the front 7 meager grades.
DB: A-, #5 in completed % against. In a league with fairly weak QB play, our DB group certainly looks to be our strength on defense.

K/P: A-, Ross James is elite, and Sappington is gonna pull it together soon.
KR/PR: A+, We would be 1-1 without them.

Overall:
Offense B-, our numbers look OK. Gabriel's putting up nice numbers, but we aren't scoring enough points. We are averaging 3 offensive touchdowns a game. That would be below our standard even in Big Ten play. More redzone, more touchdowns. Hopefully once OL gets it together, we'll be back to Oregon standards.
Defense B, Jeanty was tough. I figure this grade will go up over the next couple games.
Special teams A, who would have thought?

I hate that I agree with your grade about the DL, I came into this season thinking Oregon will have one of the best DL’s in the nation and it seems far from that. I know the Boise State OLine is extremely well coached but there’s no reason the ducks shouldn’t have gotten more pressure on Madsen especially after BSU was missing 2 starters.

RB’s are such an unknown to me at this point, I am surprised we haven’t seen more from other RB’s besides Whittington at this point. But with the OLine being as bad as they have been it’s hard to truly give a grade to the RB’s.

My guess is coaches were hoping to use some easier games to get Whittington up to speed. He hasn't looked quite the same as he did pre-inury.

Whittington looks like he wants to be a one cut and go type back, which he isn't. I wonder if he's afraid to fully test his knee.

Ross James has been lousy this year....C at best.

The tight ends have been lousy. Horrific blocking (at least against Idaho), Herbert's fumble prevented what would have likely developed into a comfortable win, Ferguson looks nothing like an NFL tight end, Sadiq on an end around has become mind numbingly predictable/ineffective, etc.

Other than that, the grades seem reasonable.

The running game outside of James has been to the level of the weak O-line play. So far only James has been able to make something out of next to nothing. Has Harris been hurt? I don't know if he is the answer at backup running back but I would like to see what he could do. As it is James needs 5 more carries a game and then pass the ball when he is out for a breather.

Someone forgot to say the sky is falling. We're 2-0 and our goals remain intact right now. Civil war? Now that game, you can throw the records, line and everything else out.

But ya tight end group hasn’t impressed yet.

Have you actually watched the games? If you have, you would know that Ross James has been terrible this season. He doesn't even rank in the top 50 in the country in NET punting since he has been mediocre (at best) at doing the actual job of a punter. He has also had multiple punts, including his joke of a punt to start the Boise State game, that gift wrapped field position to the opponent.

Technically he’s 42nd in net punting.

He hasn't been able to pin it within 10-20 yards on punts and punts it into the endzone when those opportunities arise. Its just two games in, so can't crap on the kid and hoping he returns to his good punting results from last year. Though in the past two games, his punting has been far from elite.
