ESPN projects a #1 Oregon vs #8/9 Clemson in the Rose Bowl. I think there's a good chance that Clemson wins the ACC and in that scenario, we could see Miami replace them in that 8/9 spot.

Re: Ducks # 1
It’s funny how many teams are not worthy of #1 this year. It feels like one of the most open years to win it all.

And we might be at full strength and have continued to get better all year. I think on a neutral field (Lucas Oil Field) we can beat them 6 out of 10 times.QuackininBama wrote: Sun Oct 20, 2024 12:04 pm It's all fun and game until we meet Ohio State in the conference championship. I absolutely think the Ducks will be able to beat them again, but I think that game will be about as neutral as the Oregon/Georgia game was. Indy is only a 2.5 hour drive from Columbus. Also, I could see a lot less fans traveling for conference championship games with the potential of needing to travel for playoff games. I feel like the first 2 rounds should both be played at home fields, because expecting fans to travel to that many neutral site locations in a short amount of time is a bit much. Let the teams with the bye also get the benefit of a home game for revenue.nogerO wrote: Sun Oct 20, 2024 1:55 pmAnd we might be at full strength and have continued to get better all year. Nice to see our Ducks at the top of the list. Here's to a shorter duration between number 1 rankings under Lanning.

That was the one thing we lacked under CK, is beef on the lines. With Lanning, we have that. We now have "DAWGS". Lanning managed to bring SEC offensive and defensive lineman all the way up to the northwest. While we are having a great season, it may not happen this year, Lanning may need another couple years of solid recruiting, but we are right there in the mix now.

That's like saying a game in Portland would be a neutral field. The game ought to be in Vegas.
They will definitely be unhappy. Among other things, the spitting incident will be a big time motivator. Much rather play Penn State.

We may not win the Playoff this year, its going to be tough sledding regardless, but one thing we absolutely cannot do is blame recruiting or think that we just need "more time" if that's what happens.
