To celebrate the #1 poll ranking - threaten the B1G

The 1/2 revenue share while USC and UCLA get full shares pisses me off.
I would love to see Oregon leak out they are open to look at any and all conference's full share offers.
As a fan who watches multiple non-football sports I do not like the B1G network, I miss having a Conference network included in my cable package. I miss having a free channel dedicated to Oregon and Oregon State.
The B1G refs suck every bit as bad as the PAC-12 ones did.
(This is my first bad mood bitch'n thread I have ever started on this board. Disinhibition comes with advancing age.)

Yeah the revenue share is lame, but as long as we keep winning year after year, all these things won’t bother you as much.
Get those natty’s!

It's funny, because i have heard ESPN commentators derisively bringing up the half-pay thing too. It was an act of desperation and the Big 10 got a good deal.
Anytime I think about this though, I think of USC and their fans, who really really thought they got one over on the Ducks by leaving the conference, and they thought their recruiting would immediately go back to the days when they had their pick of the litter and everyone else took their scraps. For about a year, their fans were all over message boards bragging about how they were in a REAL conference now and telling Oregon to have fun in the Mountain West. Oregon even lost a recruit to USC who cited the USC talking point that they would be playing on a superior stage. To now see Oregon assume the same position at the top of the new conference that the Trojans fled to is sticking in their craw something fierce. They still whine about how they had a handshake deal to keep Oregon out.
Eventually, Oregon will have full revenue, but in the meantime, watching the Ducks beat Ohio State while the Spoiled Children lose to Maryland (and everyone else) can be a consolation.

Well said. Not a big deal. We will be at full share soon enough. And in fairness to the B1G, the LA schools are a much bigger media market. And so far we are getting the last laugh.

GrandpaDuck, as you said, this is probably your first real negative thread and it's also the first I can remember that I disagree with you, haha.
I'm also annoyed at the half revenue situation. Frankly, as one of the conference's 3-4 marquee brands, kneecapping Oregon is disadvantageous to the conference because everyone now fully understands you need your biggest brands to be strong in order to survive in this television-dominated world. I don't think the deal can be reworked without the other universities signing off on it, which just isn't going to happen, especially as Oregon is en route to win the league in their first year. So while my sentiment is completely aligned with yours, I look at Florida State as a cautionary tale where they have just burned every bridge imaginable and made themselves a bit of a mockery by airing everything so publicly. I'd prefer Oregon not do that, even if they are getting hosed.

It’s lame but Oregon needed the B1G a hell of a lot more than they needed us. If it took Oregon taking a crappy share to start in order for the bottom half of the conference to agree to letting them in, it’s going to be more than worth it over the long term.

I have no problem it the agreement.
Oregon probably pushed for it to go through just as much as the B1G presidents. Like others have said, we needed the B1G more than it needed us. The Ducks made a play for a seat at the table and pulled it off. Wouldn't make much sense to make drama over our own agreement.
Also, we're kicking everyone's asses! Mission accomplished. The money will come.

One of the things I don't believe the B1G is going to be able to do is partial-payments to Oregon/UW Players. Come spring time we'll find more details about the Revenue Sharing plan that they'll have to come to agreements with so I think that is a factor that the B1G can't do.

As many of you have correctly pointed out the B1G had leverage and they chose to use it. They didn't have to. They could have welcomed us full valued members like they did USC and UCLA. They gave us a bedroom under the stairs.
I really don't wouldn't want to join the SEC but I think it would be funny as heck if there was a credible but deniable rumor floating that they were pursuing us.
I also will never feel conference comradery with the B1G They can lose every nonconference game they play as far as I am concerned and I'll take extra joy in stomping the conference bottom dwellers (USC UCLA Rutgers etc) who wanted to apply that leverage.
(Obviously my dour mood hasn't lifted yet.)

Actually I don't think they could have welcomed us at "full-value" for the reason that they'd all have to take a slice off their own pie after having signed the rights agreement because the Network was only willing to pony up half-share to add 2 more schools to their broadcast inventory. It's the Network who offered half-share to add us which is where the ACC/ESPN contract had some 'pro rata' of $30M for any school they added which was obviously not an appealing figure for us. So my understanding was that we were playing hard-ball more with the Network relative to our $ share than we were with the B1G.
You can argue that the B1G knew they were causing the demise of the Pac with that move since they've got strong insider knowledge of what every Network was willing to pay in that cycle of right's deal and I won't argue with that.

Hmmm, now you have me rethinking the direction of my animosity. So I'm still good with hating B1G USC and UCLA for killing the PAC. Comcast and B1G for screwing up my TV viewing. (Yes I am paying comcast for far less than I previously had included for free.) ABC/ESPN for the unwanted step child treatment of UO. The lord above for creating referees. The ACC for trying to cheat Miami into the playoffs. The NCAA because they are the NCAA. Sheesh, It's getting to be a lot of hard confusing work being a hater, maybe I'll just go back to being a loveable old grandpa.

Should just say all refs this year suck as bad at the P12 ones. Even the NFL refs have been bad

So, if Ducks get only 1/2 share in the league, do the Ducks only have to share 1/2 of the revenue generated by the Ducks, with the league?
