Oregon opens as 24.5 to 27.5 point favorites over the Terrapins.

On ESPN FPI rankings Nebraska #55, Illinois #56, Maryland 58th, UCLA #59. Lower than Michigan (46) higher than Michigan State (69). 5th highest ranked of our first 10 opponents. Factor in 3 time zone travel and playing at Autzen that 24 seems reasonable.

I personally don’t buy the ESPN FPI rankings, early in the season Michigan State beat Maryland and since then Michigan State has gotten better and Maryland has gotten worse. Only teams Oregon has played so far that I’d say Maryland is better than is Oregon State and Purdue.

Agreed. I think 45-17 is close.

I'm thankful we get Maryland at home this week. No conference game is ever a total walk in the park, but Oregon should be able to get the "W" this week while giving plenty of reps to backups. This is also the perfect time to get another starter settled into the O-line until Harper is back, and same goes for Holden (and probably Lowe) getting more reps at receiver.

Which other receiver is most likely to see the field now?

Hate losing Tez & Harper for any length of time, but the sky didn't fall at Michigan and the Ducks have an easy few weeks to get guys acclimated.

The other thing I keep telling myself is that when you look at teams that have won championships in recent years it's usually the teams with monster defenses that win... and our defense is cooking with Burch still trying to find his stride.

As far as receivers, it’s looked like Jeremiah McClellan is the next up as far as I’ve seen. He’s played in 3 games so far so only has 1 left before he burns his redshirt. Ryan Pellum would be the other likely guy to get more action I think. He’s played in 4 games for far. Dickey redshirted last season but who knows if he’s capable of playing at this level.

Would be nice if Gary Bryant Jr magically appears sometime soon.

If GBjr can't go, I wonder if Jack Ressler might be someone who gets some 4th quarter reps in this game because he's more of a Slot WR than the others and a possible better replacement for Tez. I'm still under the impression that as long as they end the regular season with 4 or less games, they can keep their RS so some of those players may start playing more now. Novosad can backup 1 more game and Moore the other 2 at QB and finish at 4 games for example.

As I recall, Holden seemed to get a fair amount of those Slot looks against the Wolverines. Jayden Limar could be someone who might work out of the Slot more as well as he's got solid hands at RB and is already a regular in the Offense.

One thing that does bug me about these next two games (Maryland and at Wisconsin) is that it's two games in a row against teams that are coming off of bye weeks while the Ducks will have played the previous week. It's not that I'm overly concerned about losing this week or next, but especially this late in the year I worry about the greater chance of injuries vs. a fresher team. I think that the schedule makers generally do what they can to avoid these kinds of situations, but they probably just can't always do it. The Ducks were the beneficiaries of this earlier this year when they had a bye just before UCLA, who had played at LSU the previous week.

Yeah I noticed this for Wisconsin game. No doubt it will be an extra boost for them. Not a huge concern, but something to note for sure!

Definitely going to be tough seeing Tez's snaps go to Ryan Pellum, Jurrion Dickey, or Jeremiah McClellan. You still have a first line that's very, very good, but you saw in the Ohio State game that having a bevy of WRs that stress a defense opens it up for every guy.

Very encouraged to hear Tez is hopeful to come back by the time he is needed, and any game reps the young guys get are going to be great for their development. Win/Win hopefully.

Most years we'd have said we're F'ed if we were down players like GBjr, Iuli and Florence for the first 9 games of the year and now we're talking about them coming back to be able to provide depth for others.

Unless it is garbage time, the Ducks have hardly rotated receivers at all the entire season. The top 3 receivers in a given game play virtually the entire game. Four wide receivers caught a pass in the game against Ohio State. It probably would have only been 3 wide receivers catching a pass had Holden not been ejected, forcing Lowe into action.

Prior to Kyler Kasper getting injured, he was the receiver getting into the games as the #4 receiver. He barely played. He had one reception in 4 games.

When Tez got injured, the receivers that played virtually every snap (until garbage time) were Stewart, Holden and Lowe. Based on every game this season, that is likely what it will be again next game.
