If Ohio State wins it all, at least…

We were the only team to score 20 or more on them.
Something Penn State, Texas, and Tennessee failed to do.
Oh and we did it twice.
We are 2nd place in my heart.

If the Buckeyes win convincingly, Oregon will likely be 2nd in fact as well as in your heart.

Oregon should be No.2 whichever team wins. If Ohio State wins, Notre Dame would have 2 L's, including one to Northern Illinois, Oregon is 13-1, their L? A split with Ohio State. If Notre Dame wins. Ohio State finishes with 3 L's.

You are right, well said. My assumption is that Ohio State will win, and my musings were based on that expectation and the thinking that it would be better for Oregon's ranking if that win is not close.

Notre Dame has no business being in this game. Lanning must be going crazy right now.

At least we can say that we split two games vs the national champ and were 2-1 vs the four semifinalists (1-0 vs Penn State).
Oh, and we were also the conference champions.

The last two Buckeye championships have come in years that the playoffs expanded, allowing a Buckeye team a chance that wouldn’t have existed in any year prior. In both cases, Oregon would have avoided a late season juggernaut in the playoffs.
Luck is a funny thing. Most of us would assume that a larger field should help Oregon’s chances, but that very much has not been the case.
Sports are frustrating. Somehow my dad, from Akron, OH, instilled in me an allegiance to Cleveland sports, but a disdain for the Buckeyes. Thanks, Dad….

Ohio state had an amazing team this year. Not many teams could compete for a natty with one of the best oline, after losing a star, first rd LT and starting center.
They were also extremely lucky to not to have any significant injuries during their CFP run. They also lucked out not having to play in the conf. Championship (extra week rest), but also having home field advantage.
Their blueprint is to splurge on the best hs prospects and transfer portal players. Hopefully we are also taking the same approach.

I believe that's everybody's blueprint.

Glad Ohio State won, I can't stand Notre Dame. Also the last two titles being won by the B1G will do more to help knock down the obsolete SEC narrative.

Well, looks like they gave #2 to Notre Dame anyway. Ridiculous.

We're not 1-2 years away from having 11+ drafted guys on the team. Next year looks like we'll have 6-7

I just read an article where the ACC Commish talks about how he favors the current format and that the regular season, and conference championships matter. They obviously don't. Oregon went 13-0, won the B1G championship, and was rewarded with the most disadvantaged No.1 seed in the history of tournaments.
Ohio State lost to Oregon, lost to Michigan during the regular season, didn't matter. Penn State lost to Oregon in the CCG, and got the easiest route to the Natty possible, then proceeded to blow it. It should be obvious to the ACC Commish and everybody else involved in the format's construction that Ohio State being a 8 seed was ridiculous.
Any Michigan fan that shouts at a Buckeye fan, "We beat you" will just get a laugh back in response.
