Boise State, the hated Boise State. Before the season started when we saw this game we were confident and excited about Oregon finally beating those annoying Broncos, but the Idaho game put some of us (or maybe just me) in doubt, and the thought of losing to those stupid smurfs again was unbearable. As the game started, we saw more of the same. OLine is struggling a ton, not opening running lanes, and not giving Gabriel time. But one thing we saw was the hype for the explosion plays wasn’t fake. In the rare event Gabriel had time, he was able to find receivers down field and deliver the ball for some big explosion plays! In addition Evan Williams arrived! He was silent against Idaho but he showed how good he was in the first half with two explosion plays. Despite that though, Oregon was down 14-20 at half and it seemed like Boise State was moving the ball easier than Oregon.
Second half was a new story. New OLine, offense seemed to be in more of a rhythm, but a new unexpected issue arose, butterfingers. With the game tied Burch dropped the easiest pick six you can ask for which would’ve given Oregon a 1 score lead, and two fumbles in the 4th quarters while giving back to back touchdowns gave Boise State a 4th quarter 34-27 lead when just a bit ago it looked as if Oregon was going to take a 34-20 lead and essentially ice the game. But, special teams took over, which I don’t think any of us expected to see. First Tez had a big touchdown, and when Boise State took the 7 point lead and had all momentum, Whittington took it back returning a kickoff for a touchdown, before butterfingers arose again and he dropped the ball right before crossing the endzone but lucky for us, Jayden Limar made arguably the most heads up play of the season.
In the end, defense locked down, offense was able to move the ball, and Sappington made the game winning field goal as time expired to make up for his missed PAT earlier. Once again, a win is a win. It was ugly, there was a lot to learn from and a lot to clean up, but Oregon is 2-0 and that mattered most.

I actually didn’t get to watch this game live because I was in Pullman for Texas Tech vs Wazzu game. But had enough people around me watching/following the game.
This game would have been an L if it weren’t for our special teams.
Season would have looked a whole lot different if we would have lost to either of these Idaho based teams to start the season.

If Oregon loses to Idaho and Boise State but wins the Big Ten, Indiana doesn't make the playoffs.

Oregon probably would’ve had an easier path to the natty too…StevensTechU wrote: Wed Aug 20, 2025 8:31 am If Oregon loses to Idaho and Boise State but wins the Big Ten, Indiana doesn't make the playoffs.
