2024 Win 3: Oregon State

Post by OregonFan4Life »

Time for little brother, who has shrunk even more while Oregon has grown. Most of us penciled this as an easy win against a Mountain West team, but after the first two weeks the nation wasn’t as sure we’d see an Oregon win.

Oregon quickly gave us little to worry about, as the defense forced the Beavers to take a long field goal and the offense came out clicking from the beginning. The issues on offense, particularly on the OLine, seemed like a thing of the past as Oregon scored touchdowns on every one of their 3 drives in the first half. However, to our surprise, the Oregon defense struggled in the first half. The DLine and LB’s seemed out of sync allowing the Beavs to find success in the running game and control the tempo. Also Oregon gave up some long 3rd down conversions due to missed coverage and a miracle completion on the sidelines. Because of these uncharacteristic defensive issue, the Beavers kept it a one score game at half. But despite it being a one score, I don’t think any of us worried too much.

Second half, same story on offense, new story on defense. Offense continued to move the ball at will and score, meanwhile Lanning and Tosh made adjustments and the defense completely suffocated McCoy and the Oregon State offense. Ducks completely took control and put this game away quickly.

While it wasn’t perfect, this finally started to resemble the Oregon team we expected to see in the 2024 season. This really felt like a turning point in the season for Oregon.
