Predicting the WRs and TEs

Post by StevensTechU »

Oregon's passing game is a complete unknown this year. The passer is new, the line defending him is 80% new, and the guys running routes and catching passes are new.

Given the unknown, does anybody want to take a stab at who the top 5 pass catchers will be this season (receptions/game)? I'll bump this thread after the season and see how close people got.

Players: Kenyon Sadiq, Jamarri Johnson, Roger Saleapaga, AJ Pugliano, Vander Ploog, Dakorien Moore, Kyler Kasper, Gary Bryant Jr, Justius Lowe, Malike Benson, Jeremiah McClellan, Cooper Perry, Evan Stewart (why not, he could come back from injury), Dillon Gresham.

I'm intentionally leaving out running backs from this question.

Top 5 (in order).

Kenyon
Moore
Benson
Kasper
Gary Bryant Jr.

If we go yards instead of receptions, I'll swap Kasper and JMAC.

Moore
Sadiq
Bryant
Lowe
Benson

I will say, Jmac and Kasper could easily be in there. In fact, I think Jmac has a solid year, so was tempted to move him higher. Just hard to pick against guys with more experience.

Moore will lead the team in receptions, yards and TDs.

Sadiq could push for TDs but it would be wild if he caught more balls for more yards than our #1 WR.

After those 2, we could see a bunch of guys finish the year with ~30 receptions for ~300 yards type stuff.

My bet is it's incredibly even among the WRs. Lots of guys between 15-30 catches, and Sadiq ending the year in the 40-55 range.

Last year the Top 4 in receptions were (~2/3 of all receptions)
Tez - 89
Evan - 48
Traeshon - 45
Terrance - 43

So I think we're definitely going to see Moore over 65+ receptions because someone has to catch all these passes were going to throw.

Running backs.

Being wrong is half the fun here. Let me be.

Almost perfect so far. Just had Lowe instead of Jmac, which is funny cuz I really wanted to put Jmac in the list. I will say, I'm shocked that Lowe and Kasper only have a combined 5 receptions on the year...

Doesn't help that Lowe only recently came back from injury and Kasper is now out for the season with another foot injury.

He's had a snakebitten time at Oregon with all the lower leg injuries he's suffered. Wouldn't be surprised to see him transfer after this season.
