Nothing until 2028 is crazy. Why even renew it at that point? Let hate week be all about the Huskies. They’re all we need now.

It died the moment the Pac-12 broke apart and OSU got gutted by the transfer portal once Jonathan Smith left. Oregon's biggest rivalries are now UW, Ohio State, and USC.

IMHO, Oregon State and WSU got a raw deal, but there's nothing that can be done about it now.
Playing them every year would put money in their pocket, as well as a HUGE incentive to beat us in a rivalry game.
We wouldn't have a lot to gain from it. It's a game we'd be expected to win and a loss could be devastating!
Maybe once every few years or so, but not every year.

We really shouldn't play road games with Beavers anymore. It doesn't add much value like superduck said. It gives them a sliver of a chance of upsetting us.
Hosting them once every few years works for me though!

Beavers acting like the 2027 game was a burden to them and they’re doing Oregon a favor by trying to start a series in 2028 is flat out comical. They need us, we don’t need them. This is a poor fiscal decision by them not to make it work in 2027 and jeopardize the “series” after that with these sort of antics. Mullens extended an olive branch, he needs to just tell them to get lost cause I know fans enjoy the Civil War but honestly Oregon doesn’t need it.

I hope the CIVIL WAR is not done. A long history and many competitive and disappointing games in the past. This seems to be the new age of college football, the team with the most money wins. While I enjoy watching modern Ducks and Dan Lanning football much of me misses the old days of high school recruits, development and the non pro days of NCAA ball.

I don't think the argument needs to go much further than Oregon's AD no longer wanting to give up a home game to play on the road against a G6 team every other year?
OOC games among teams hanging around the top of college football are either for big splash games or paydays. Going on the road to play a G6 team every other year is neither. If you thing you belong among the top teams in college football (and plan to try to stay there), you likely need to take cues from the likes of Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama, and Texas, and they aren't trading home-and-homes with the AAC, CUSA, MAC, Mt. West, Sun Belt, or Pac.
What could make sense to continue the series for the UO would be playing the game at Autzen each year, at least until Oregon State joins a P4 conference again; but, I don't see Oregon State going for that (and I don't blame them). There may not be an agreement that makes sense for both schools at the same time right now.
Oregon won't be going on the road to play Oregon State in years the B1G conference schedule gives it 4 home games and 5 road games (and thus only a 6 game home schedule). In the 5/4 years, it allows for an 8 game home schedule where the extra home game is going to be worth a lot more than whatever guarantee it gets to play at Oregon State. With costs in the FBS just going up and up, the $ I would imagine just too much to comfortably eat.

Ya if Beavers were in the Big 12 or something, the rivalry could continue. But it’s not so I’m personally happy we aren’t playing them for at least the next couple years.

I loved the Civil War but the death of the Pac-12 really stuck a dagger in it. Not only are we not in the same conference, we're not even in the same universe anymore. And the game would no longer be fun for most Oregon State fans. It's sad, but it is what it is.

I gather that the scheduling difficulty was on the OSU side of the ledger, and I am glad to see they are not hurting for opponents, but I really feel like this is a huge missed opportunity. I mean, how many teams have ever played all the OSU's in the same season? Oregon had a golden opportunity and blew it on the easy one.
On a side note, I don't get why Oregon and Cal or Stanford don't schedule each other. Portland State may be great for injuries, trying out new offensive schemes, etc. but it looks terrible on an already weak OOC schedule.
