2009 Season Predictions [Poll Included]

Post by NCDucks09 »

What do you think the odds are of the 2009 Oregon Duck Team in terms of utilizing the friendly home schedule, the strength of schedule, and the very talented group of players returning?

Woohoo, first voter haha. I think we go 12-1 with our only slip up to USC. Obviously things can change very much from now till fall camp but with the way this team is built & the players we have coming back, I don't see any drop-off. Take those last 2-3 games & that's how we play all season.

Yes, I just quoted myself.

And.....YES, I'm calling it here and now, Ducks are National Champs following an undefeated '09 Season, defeating Florida or Texas in the Title Game.

Feel free to quote me on this, this time next year! 8-)

For us to be considered a "national championship" team, the defense is really going to have to improve. I'm not sure we will do that under Allioti. We also seem to be losing a lot of talent defensively between Chung, Byrd, Reed and others. The offense is also losing guys like Unger, Johnson, Williams and Scott. I'm confident that a lot of the new guys will step up, but we are replacing a lot.

right now I would say 10-3, repeat of 08 season. Id reconsider my pick after spring game, and boise state too. I want to see where we are at without JJ and others @ spring game. Hopefully see someone step up and make a impact. Im expecting Masoli to be more improved by spending more time under CK's playbook.

Another 9, 10 win season in my eyes. Still way to early to tell. But with the schedule we have right now, I have a hard time seeing us only losing once or twice.

We have the talent to go undefeated as well as a favorable HOME schedule. If we can get past USC and Cal @ home, then I'm a believer.

The loss of JJ is important, but he can be replaced with L.James, who is faster and a similar type of runner. J.Will was always a home run threat, and T.Scott was solid, but we have J.Holland who can be that home run threat, and C.Harper to step up and be that go to guy, who is also, always a threat to take it all the way. Plus, we have guys like D.Jordan, M.Lewis, J.Maehl, D.Davis, and B.Cantu who can provide great depth at the wide-out.

Losing Unger hurts.....A LOT, but it's not the end of the world, guys like Hamani Stevens can step up, especially with Greatwood coaching. The line play is not my concern, especially since Masoli can make his own reads now for protection.

The key to this team next year, is we'll have a very experienced QB who is a playmaker and great talent around him in a system that's deadly. The O should be better next year.

The D? Allioti? I understand and feel your pain. We have some great talent returning and getting signed this year through the JUCO's at LB and D-line, so I'm happy there. We have Ward and Thurmond returning, and some guys like T.Jackson, who will probably be the new opposite side starter of Walter at CB. FS? I thought A.Leon would fill that void, but now, who knows. I mean Chung came out of nowhere as a 2 STAR, so we'll see.

2007 was almost an NC year because of the Offensive Attack we had with Dixon/Stewart and friendly *HOME SCHEDULE*.

2009 can be the same way with Masoli/Blount/Harper/James. The D feeds on the electricity in Autzen and makes them play above their game, so if it's going to be any year in the near future, it's going to be '09.

I voted undefeated because as long as we still have 0 losses I'm gonna have faith cause where's the fun in thinking you're gonna lose...Here's to another amazing and extraordinarily fun run like 2007 which was some of the most fun I've ever had.

Count me in for Rose Bowl Champs. It's too easy for us to get screwed out of a National Championship game for now. Even with just 1 loss, I think we'd get jobbed until we can get into another BCS game or two.

Hopefully the JC's come in ready to rock! If they do we should be pretty solid on D this year...

Right now it is hard to predict anything, so I played it safe and went with 10-3. Major questions on D and o-line have me a little worried.
