I dont think Bryce Brown will be coming to Oregon. Is that a given, no, but I am not expecting him to come to Oregon. I think we had a chance but right now I think he sticks with Miami and plays with his brother.

In light of that news, I hope people dont fill the board with post after post about how terrible our staff is at recruiting. Yes, go ahead and second guess and and ask questions about the team. I am all for educated questioning. However, I am hoping our board doesn't go into full meltdown mode, I think this board can handle the let down and not fill us with posts that turn people away.

Trust me I am all for questioning the coaches recruiting styles when needed but I dont think this is one of those times.

We are making inroads in recruiting and to land top flight players it takes years and years of hard work, let downs, and near misses.

5 years ago we were getting in on 5*s.
Last year we got the attention of the #1 recruit in the nation but just didn't have enough to warrent a visit.
Now this season the #1 recruit actually set foot on campus, is taking a serious look at us, and could be a Duck.

Not real surprising. I was holding out hope but the more this dragged on the more obvious it became that he is staying with Miami. It also opens up a spot for a top RB next year that we may not have gotten if BB had come here. See I can spin this in a positive way.

It's cool, I never really expected Brown to be a duck.

Hey MOPS, thanks for the hard work you are putting in at writing about next year's class. I think the coaches are wise in their decision to get a jump on next year's class. Over the past 2 years Oregon football has gotten a lot of exposure throughout the country, and I think getting the word out on the buzz over it can make a difference in the coaches recruiting efforts.

Well, if BB stays at Miami or for that matter goes elsewhere...I admit, I will be disappointed....But, in all reality...its not unexpected that he doesnt land here....
We were fortunate enuff to have Snoop for several years and there will be more.....JJ is a prime example, as is L. Blount....
Would BB be helpful towards our goal of a shot at a NC? Of course he would, but, thats not to say that we cant/wont be able to do it without him....These high profile players could very well regret not giving the Ducks more serious consideration....At least we were in the hunt...
And, it could come back to bite em in the posterior...Yeah, even as soon as this upcoming season....
Oh well, thats really not our problem.....We just need to take care of business with the fine group of young men that we have...We were close this year....And, with a couple of decent early season efforts, we could be right in the hunt, come the end of the 09 season.....This is a much more favorable schedule than last year was....And we should as good, if not better this year, than we were last year.....

Being an eternal optimist I will hold out hope that we still land this guy but I'm not one that goes into meltdown mode anyhow...and man could this guy do great things in our system!

Refer to above post... losing Boyd was a marginal loss because we already have talented QB in the system and he would not have seen the field for a few years but losing out on BB is a much bigger loss. BB could add to our team now and would have made an impact over the next few years...what is this guy thinking?

With all that being said, crying over this is pointless because if we don't get him we have a stable of backs that I think are good enough to get our 2000-2500 yards next year out of our RB position and in particular I'm excited to see LGB, Harper, Alston and LMJ to their thing...(we already know what Crenshaw can do)!

I will not be surprised if he sticks with Miami. Not saying I won't be disappointed, but completely understand his reasons for staying close to family. All you can do is show the guys the magic created at Oregon and how they would fit into the program, but as has been said before, you are dealing with 17 & 18 year old kids. I could barely tie my shoes at 18, hence felt blessed they made shoes with velcro! But seriously, recruiting is brutal & we've got some great kids this year as well as an amazing group interested in next. It is what it is.

I don't think anyone will be crying about missing out on Brown, but with all due respect we were actually landing some 5* recruits 5 years ago. 2002, 2004, 2005 each had 5* recruits that were signed and at least 2 are arguably the best players the Ducks have ever had. None since. That's a problem if we want to stay in the top-15 on a recurring basis.

I just hope, for his sake, that if he goes to Miami, that he gets used like CK would use him here, where his talents truly get utilized. Only time will tell on that one. Good luck to him, though, no matter how it turns out. This has got to be tough on him to go through this whole situation. It will be fun to follow his career, regardless, but I hope he becomes a Duck. Fingers are crossed.

i appericate Bryce Brown gave us serious look and consider us as #1 if he didnt commit to Miami at all. good luck to Brown!

Im not saying I won't be dissapointed as if he doesn't come I will be upset but it will take less than 5 minutes for me to move on and see the overall bigger picture of things.

I already moved on to 2010 Just happy with Ethan Grant and White. hoping to see more in 2010 commit early to us.

I gave up on Brown once his "adviser" started talking about him taking other trips. Brown could have really flourished in the Duck system.

Now they need to get Malcolm Jones. He and Grant together would be awesome. That's a consolation prize I can live with.

I do question Kelly's closing skills though. It seems like every player says how "laid back" Kelly is. Which is fine. But there is also a time to put on some pressure, and hopefully he is learning.

Time to move on already, our best chance with Bryce was when he came to visit, its not hard too see the way things have been progressing in his recruiting that we are a L O N G shot at best!! I hope the coaches stay on the west coast now and not waste anymore time in Kansas, its getting way close too CRUNCH time signing day and i don't want to lose another Wheaton or someone here in the west that fits our program!!!
