There is nothing to worry about from their offense...... Two straight punts from them...... Crowd really isn't into it tonight...... Maybe they are saving it for us

That's because they've seen the score from our game!kc2135 wrote:There is nothing to worry about from their offense...... Two straight punts from them...... Crowd really isn't into it tonight...... Maybe they are saving it for us
Yeah, you had to figure that they'd wear Tennessee-Martin down after awhile. Even if they are young and thin on experience, they're still more than a match for them.chump01284 wrote:right now Tennessee is leading 50 to 0 in 4th quarter.
New Mexico is a D-1 school and I'm pretty sure T-Martin is a Subdivision (D-2).karlhungis wrote:How does UTM compare to New Mexico?
Sorry but 72-0 against a D-1 team means something.howdydodat wrote:Sat, Sept 5 vs Northern Iowa W 17-16 --- +1

Please, please, pleeeaase be over confident based on the opening week games. You guys looked great. No doubt about it. It's one game though and it means nothing next week. Tennessee would have beat Alabama if they had a kicker. They lost 12-10. Ole Miss and Virginia Tech pulverized Tennessee. They obviously weren't better than Alabama.
Oregon very well may beat Tennessee no problem. I think they'll win by a couple of touchdowns. It doesn't change the fact that these 1st week games mean nothing next week.
Yeah, it means one win.dthomas=ddixon wrote:Sorry but 72-0 against a D-1 team means something.howdydodat wrote:Sat, Sept 5 vs Northern Iowa W 17-16 --- +1

I agree the win means just about zip starting Monday (you always get one day to enjoy it- especially that beat down). But I doubt Chip will let them get complacent. He was bitching about missed assignments at halftime- up 59-0. And I agree that the caliber of athlete next week will obviously be totally different.howdydodat wrote:Yeah, it means one win.dthomas=ddixon wrote:Sorry but 72-0 against a D-1 team means something.howdydodat wrote:Sat, Sept 5 vs Northern Iowa W 17-16 --- +1

2007... Navy 74, North Texas 62. They had records of 5-4 and 1-7.
72-0 against an FBS team is an amazing feat. It was still week 1 and it was still New Mexico. Some people had them ranked 120th. If anything, this is good for Tennessee. If Oregon players are making as big of deal out of this as the fans, they could be in for a rude awakening next week. Tennessee just won 50-0 as well. Granted it was an FCS team, I thought Tennessee looked less than average. It's not hard to beat up on bad teams.
All I know is an Iowa team that started out 9-0 needed two blocked field goals to beat Northern Iowa and an Alabama team that finished 13-0 needed two blocked field goals to beat Tennessee. They beat a lot better teams by a lot more. Alabama beat 12-0 Florida 31-13 I believe it was.
I'd be excited about the win too. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree that it means anything when it comes to next weeks game. Tennessee has waaaay more talent than New Mexico and the score starts at 0-0.
Exactly. I'm not trying to take anything away from the win. It was a great win.I agree the win means just about zip starting Monday (you always get one day to enjoy it- especially that beat down). But I doubt Chip will let them get complacent. He was bitching about missed assignments at halftime- up 59-0. And I agree that the caliber of athlete next week will obviously be totally different.
The one poster said that 72-0 against a D1 school meant something, not a FBS school. And in your previous example Navy still gave up 62 points to North Texas. I don't think your example really proves your point.howdydodat wrote:Exactly. I'm not trying to take anything away from the win. I'm just saying in the end, it was week 1 and it means nothing next week.
If I were a betting man, my money would be on Oregon next week. I think Tennessee could surprise people and give Oregon a run for their money.
Also, I don't know why I was giving such random examples. The one poster said 72-0 against an FBS team means something. Tennessee beat Western Kentucky 63-7 last year... They finished 7-6. I think Oregon will finish a lot better then that but just sayin...
The Western Kentucky example does. 63 is only 8 less than 72 and giving up one touchdown doesn't matter in that instance. Still a 7-6 team blowing out a D1 school. It meant nothing.karlhungis wrote:The one poster said that 72-0 against a D1 school meant something, not a FBS school. And in your previous example Navy still gave up 62 points to North Texas.
