Post by UOducksTK1 »

Game 1: L 3-4
Game 2: L 10-11
Game 3: W 4-0
Game 4: W 4-3

Last time we played Hawaii, they won the series 3-1. Only 2 weeks until we start playing again!

Bats went ice cold in the islands last year. We lost 4-3, 2-1, 5-2, and won 3-0; Anderson gave up 1 ER, LaTempa 2, and McGough 1 in three really good starts, but the bats did nuthin' and Fleck gave up 3 runs in relief in the third game late, putting it out of reach. Thornton pitched a gem in the last one.

Hawaii was actually pretty good last year (finished #72 RPI), and I believe they won the WAC Tournament and finished pretty strong. They made the Tempe Regional, losing to ASU, beating San Diego, and then get eliminated by ASU.

What they have coming back... I have no idea.

Still can't believe how interested I am in baseball. I never thought that Oregon getting a team would do that.

Whoo! Gonna be an awesome year. With the ducks bball team doing so good It will probably will take a little while to shift my focus to baseball but ince the college bball season is over I'll be ready to go. Hopefully a run to Omaha is in the cards this year.

Looks as if they be without KC Serna, who was suspended indefinitely by Horton today.

Lots of distractions over there. I think Horton will have the boys ready this time. I have a feeling this is going to be a great season...Bye Bye Beavis

That sucks, get it together Serna! Him and Pufler are our infielding core.

This may be a tough series without Serna anchoring the middle of the infield. Horton said he would probably move Altobelli over from third, but he said that none of the others who would replace Altobelli there are defensive equals. One answer could be to have Marder move there and allow someone else to catch the opening series.

The RG article also said Boer was going to come out of the 'pen initially, and McGough was going to start behind Anderson.

Other than Marder, who are the candidates to play 3rd?

Any updates as to what the starting lineup might look like?

Who leads off in place of Serna?

How many newbies start?

Hawai'i is a good ball club, but if we come out of this series any worse than 3-1, it will be some tough ground to make up vis a vis a possible Regional venue host.

IMHO, it's going to take about 40-45 wins and finish in the Top-3 or so in the conference to be considered as a host. Which means that of the 60 games scheduled, the magic number for LOSSES is 15-20 - and you have to count rainouts (cancellations) as losses because you lost an opportunity to add to your win total.

Just food for thought.
