Down to their final out. Oregon's SRs have done nothing to help their cause tonight.

I can’t think of a senior who hasn’t been disappointing this World Series.

Utecht strikes out and Oregon's season is done. Think we should just expect them to falter once they get to OKC.

Yeah, nobody is going to fear Oregon in OKC next year if Oregon makes it, that’s for sure.greenyellow wrote:Utecht strikes out and Oregon's season is done. Think we should just expect them to falter once they get to OKC.

Another really good year but there isn't a player on that team who will feel that way.

This is just fools gold at this point, nothing else. Clearly something is broken with Mike White’s system when it comes to OKC. This was Oregon’s year to make the championship series. We had fantastic pitchers along with great hitting and great defense. I think most fans knew coming into OKC that Oregon’s biggest obstacle would be Oregon. Sure in the past they lost to lower seeded teams and looked bad in the process, but I never felt like Oregon had so many things going for them heading into OKC like they did this year. This is extremely disappointing, and to see our best players, seniors included, absolutely vanish in OKC, it’s just puzzling. I don’t know what White is doing but it feels like he sabotages the team once they get to OKC.

Oregon's SRs tonight went 0-10 with 2 strikeouts and 1 drawn walk. They also committed 3 of the 4 fielding errors. Talk about a disappointing way to finish their careers.

Lately I've really been thinking about the Observer Effect on sports, which seemingly plays into that.OregonFan4Life wrote:Yeah, nobody is going to fear Oregon in OKC next year if Oregon makes it, that’s for sure.greenyellow wrote:Utecht strikes out and Oregon's season is done. The one Duck who seemed to be there for all 3 games was Haley Cruse, 4-9, 1 run, 2 rbi and a home run.

Does that basically mean like if teams don’t see Oregon as a threat or a team that has a chance at winning, then that’ll be exactly what happens?Duck07 wrote:Lately I've really been thinking about the Observer Effect on sports, which seemingly plays into that.OregonFan4Life wrote:Yeah, nobody is going to fear Oregon in OKC next year if Oregon makes it, that’s for sure.greenyellow wrote:Utecht strikes out and Oregon's season is done. For sure, and the announcers pointed that out multiple times, that while others seemed to disappear, she stepped up. Too bad she didn’t get the help from her teammates that she needed.Merganzer wrote:The one Duck who seemed to be there for all 3 games was Haley Cruse, 4-9, 1 run, 2 rbi and a home run.

Very very sad ending for a good season.
But a las, the "oregon curse" still continues. Teams at this point probably wish they can draw Oregon because it will be an easy out at the WCWs.
Every year now, I almost cannot count the regular season because a completely different team shows up for the post season. It's just heartbreaking to never see them break through.

Let's never forget that as frustrating as it is for fans, nobody feels worse about it than the coaches and players do. They are the ones putting the blood, sweat and tears into it year round. Despite the "win it all or it is a failure" attitude that has become pervasive in the sports world, it was a great season. I will look forward to rooting for the ladies again next season.
