Meh, when you really look at the grand scheme....getting to a National title game is already incredibly hard, not mention doing it the year after losing it. This is how I feel, man this hurts but it was a great game and as Casey Mathews said they just made more lays than us! Man I keep screaming "stop running right at there strength!"...oh well like you mentioned we will be there again in short order.SuperDuck wrote:I agree. Losing sucks, but we definitely had our chances. Thomas was out of sync on several throws, but made some other great ones. I do question the 4th down call where Barner got stuffed. I didn't question going for it, but why run right at the strength of their defense?goducks wrote:Congratulations to Auburn, they deserve the victory, they simply outplayed us. Oregon could have won that, but we did not capitalize when needed. So be it. At least the defense made a game out of it and it was an exciting, although disappointing, finish. Next year, let's return!
Oh well, no use crying about spilled milk.
Congrats to all the Auburn fans. Enjoy your championship. You guys won a hard fought game fair and square. I still think Fairley is as dirty as they come, but we won't be playing him again, so it's now a moot point.
I have a feeling that our Ducks will be back again in a couple years.
CRAP I thought we win this one! This "F"ing sucks!
Now I'm going to focus on what a great season we had...

Re: Oregon vs Auburn National Championship Thread
A few very simple things hurt us this game...
-Field position (special teams for that matter)
-Red Zone Offense
-The safety
You can argue about how bad the refs were, or how good Auburn was... but the thing is, if Oregon had better field position, executed in the redzone, and never got tackled in the enzone, we would be partying it up like crazy right now.
Here's to next season!

The one brightside to this loss is that it will provide excellent motivation for the players in the off-season to not let this chance escape them again.

He didn't do a lot since Tuinei was getting a lot of the reps in the slot. The one time that I saw he was thrown at, DT threw a bad pass under pressure while Huff wasn't even out of break.duckgrad99 wrote:Huff picked a bad game to do nothing.

Tough loss
Our defense played well enough to win..... Our offense left too many points on the field though.
Next year should be another great one.
