Signing the LOI is pretty implausible since it requires his parents to sign, too. I think if he did verbal, it was just to stop Kiffin from breathing down his neck - that guy gets pretty pissed when recruits don't choose UT.

I get that but if it was finals week for me and someone asked "Hey, do you want to go half was across the country?", I'd probably say no.
But hopefully this is a good thing.

Haha, exactly! And thanks for your compliment.woundedknees wrote:will5, your going to end up pumping gas at Costco if you don't change your attitude!

Honestly, I'm not. I'm all about waiting until Monday too.duckgrad99 wrote:I wouldn't read to much into it. Not sure. He may have had only paper finals, or he may have been able to take them early through whatever strings the athletic dept. pulls, who knows? Or maybe they are later in the week...stewbertwilloughby wrote:I read this somewhere else, if next week is finals week, why is Chris Harper going there? I mean I guess he might not have any on Monday or Tuesday, but trying to study with all of those events going on would be hard.

Am I that transparent with my thoughts?woundedknees wrote:And maybe CH has the willing cooperation of the Athletic Dept. for reasons which will become obvious on Monday...

OK. Just so everyone is clear. Jeremy Crabtree is STILL at Bryce Brown's home as we speak. So, I have not spoken to Bryce today. I want that to be clear, as I have nothing from him today. But tomorrow, I won't be here during the day, people have asked me, so here goes.
First, early in the week, when the rumor got out he was coming, I called Bryce and he was not a happy camper. He stated to me that he was not happy b/c he had told all the other coaches he was done talking to coaches, and the next time he talked to them would be with his decision. There has been a lot of speculation as to why he was mad, but that's exactly what he told me.
Next, there was clearly an effort by BB's people, and UT, to get word out that he was NOT coming here. That effort was made clear to me by them, not just by what I heard. So I knew that as a fact, just couldn't say it at the time. You have to understand, it's not my place to call people liars.
On Thursday night, when Jimmy Hyams made his announcement and Crab came out with his, I called Bryce, let him know what had been released and in so many words, showed great signs of relief.
On Friday, I talked to Bryce literally about 8 times. He was updating me on where he was b/c he thought he had time to stop and shake hands, but he didn't. But, he let me know when he got to Knoxville and I made sure Hubbs knew he was there. He told me he was going to the team meeting and that the thing he was looking forward to about the visit was "going to see practice".
As far as his parents not coming. He let me know it was meaningless and was a last minute deal. One of them had obligations from work, and had given him the their blessing to do what he felt was right.
All that leads me to this.
- Bryce paid for his own visit.
- Bryce gleams about Coach Chaney.
- Bryce and his people mislead everyone but me in order to come to UT.
- Bryce has committed to doing my show, and reaffirmed that on Saturday after he left.
- Bryce and his family are still visiting with Crabtree as we speak.
All that tells me, and again, this is my PICK, MY OPINION, that there was nothing to "talk about" when he got home. I believe he had the parents' blessing before he left home and that was in the form of a signed LOI.
I believe that Bryce Brown signed his LOI, and left it with the University of Tennessee while he was here.
If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but that's where I am on it. I have some personal issues that are going to take me away from the situation until tomorrow late, so this is the best I can do. It's a guess, but it's a very, very educated one.
