I just finally got a PS3 and NCAA 09. On the old board, when the game first came out, people were posting info about updated rosters that could be downloaded. Does anyone have one that I can get as well as some basic instructions on how to get it?

Well, I have a Xbox360, so it's probably different. But you pretty much just share rosters with other people. I remember on Xbox Live a good roster was from a guy named "egoof". He might also be on a PS3. His has names for every player on every team, and they, for the most part, are correct (ie. Costa was the starter, not Kempt. JJ over Blount. Harper was a QB). I haven't done it for a while, but I believe there's some sort of online option on the main menu. There you type in a profile name, like "egoof" and if a match comes up, you can download it. I hope that helps a bit.

Well echo, try adding "ncaaStrategies" as a friend, then get their roster from them. However, rating have not been changed, so you might have to do some tweaking to make it "accurate".

New shot showing the update to Autzen. The DuckVision is now correct, and if you notice, the Ducks are wearing green jerseys with green pants. I believe every uni combo will be in the game (or at least many, many of them). Also, the numbers are sharper and closer together, and the diamond plating is cleaner and more accurate. Also you can see the texture of the material used on the jersey. So far NCAA Football 10 is looking awesome. For updates on gameplay and features go here:

They have the new video board down right but have they finally moved the student section and the visiting fan's section to their correct positions in Autzen. Pretty nitpicky I know but it would be kinda nice to see...

Here's some gameplay stuff.
The procedural awareness thing looks interesting. It's good to see that they are adding new features to NCAA at the same time as Madden now. Before, it always felt like NCAA got last years Madden engine. Which doesn't make sense to me. I'm pretty sure that the market for college football is at least approaching the size of the market for the NFL. A lot of college kids play video games. I don't think that making NCAA just as good would marginalize the value of Madden being the premiere football title. But, maybe that was their thinking.

The game designer was moved in from the QA department? Why? Was he the only nerd in the building to have attended a college game? No offense to the guy. But, that interview did not instill confidence that they are in tune with the game in real-world terms. I can see in their other blogs that they are trying hard to "listen to players." But, in practice, development by committee doesn't work as well for software development as having a genuine expert on hand making executive decisions. The problem is that average fans don't know how to get the most bang for the buck from a programming stand-point and the nerds that do don't know what average football fans like because they typically didn't play it growing up, follow recruiting, etc. My company did some work on the Madden menus a few years back. It was surprising to learn that EA, at least the department we worked with, was based in Canada. How many NCAA and NFL fans can there be in Canada?

Still, I've played it a lot. It's getting there. It's just, imo, missing a lot of low-lying fruit features that worked in older football games. And there's no excuse for the names, positions, ratings, etc. to remain incorrect over the course of the season. They should have algorithms that determine ratings based on stats so that it's completely unbiased and can be more easily updated each week for download over the season.

PS: What's with everyone having multiple broken xbox360s? I have the same one I bought the day it came out with zero problems.

Stew, another question for ya. Is their a blog or a certain website for ncaa 10 football where we can ask some questions about the game? For example: I always wanted too know how they rate some teams so high ( example: Florida St. was given an overall of 94 in NCAA 09 ) now USC was a 94 rating and i can understand that, but Florida St. had an awful year in 08', why would they think florida st. is a 94 in 09'? I mean the the DUCK'S were rated an 81 and we were wayyyyy better in my opinion, not too mention Chung and Reed really got hosed on their player ratings!
Georgia #1 = ya that worked out good lol
Florida St. = 94 rating same as USC?? give me a break!
South Carolina = rating of 89??? huh??

They better give us some love this year, we should be a top 10 team in NCAA 10 IMO! Oh wait, i forgot that EA SPORTS is based in Florida so maybe they were under some pressure from Bobby Bowden?? haaaa Besides all this... I LOVE THIS game!!! :)

hopefully they fix the way the players look when they are sprinting ... whenever it shows a replay of a long TD run, it looks like the player is skipping

I think those spreadsheets came out in May last year. All of those came from a guy that got to play a beta version of the game and took screenshots himself, so it's not for certain that it will happen again. The reason Florida State was rated so high was because one of the designers or producers is a Florida State fan. Seriously, that is the reason. Pretty weak, but I'd do the same with the Ducks =). And I don't know why I didn't add this site, but it's a message board that two of the game designers frequently browse for feedback and to answer question. And you get a lot more info than anywhere else, really.

Stew i was on a similar site a few months ago, and i saw that one oregon fan asked for the away and student sections to be changed, he provided pictures of both sections in 09 and then circled where they should be for 2010. If its the same type of site where designers check out user feed back we should be in luck.

I Can't wait for this game to come out i live for it every year, i just hope they have the new unis in the game.

I hope they make the computer AI better. Even a 99 rated team at Heisman difficulty is too easy.

Well they are helping that a bit already. One of the features they've announced so far is called "adaptive AI". It's basically for when a person starts using the same play over and over. The CPU will make adjustments and will give the payers awareness ratings a slight boost. It's a Madden blog, but the feature is also in NCAA.
